Assuming this upgrade is intended for trucks with halogen reverse bulbs.
Limited trims (and assuming Laramie Longhorn) come with LEDs from the factory and are plenty bright in my opinion.

Interesting. I think my reverse lights totally suck especially if youre in an area with no other other ambient lighting. Makes the backup camera totally grainy and nearly unusable. I would love better reverse lights.

I have led reverse lights and for my needs and anyone who has backed up this truck, these are poor at best. I am referring to our oem led reverse lights. I’ve also been in a Limited which has the same lights and it’s been exactly that, the same. Of course this is my opinion and not the final word lol...

Ahh, I need to find out if Laramie's come with standard LEDs. Mine totally suck especially when it's raining and the raindrops are distorting the backup camera. There is not enough light to backup in a dark parking lot or a dark long driveway with the mirrors.

I agree, this truck by far has the worst reverse lights I've had in any of my vehicles.

The reverse LED lights are marginal bordering on craptastic... I can kinda see and the image is grainy as hell, the lights on my wife's Subaru (which I think are incandescent) are fantastic.

That being said, there is this option which I seem to like better, but slightly more expensive... License Plate Reverse Light

ABSOLUTELY agree! I miss how well my 2014 Sport reverse camera worked in pitch black! Supplemental lighting is the only choice with the LED factory reverse. I'm just turn by a full tailgate bar (no my style but inexpensive with the holiday sales) or the little, but mighty bright, license plate mount LED bar another forum member used that made a HUGE improvement!

Yep.. that license plate mount LED is what I linked and I think it is rather clean looking... was never a fan of that big LED light bar along the back.

I may go that way if upgrading the bulbs won't work. I much prefer to not have anything added if I can just make the stock led bulbs brighter.

^^^. Let us know if you find a way to swap that bulb out..

I think I might just go ahead and order these bulbs tomorrow after I take out my stock led light assembly to ensure they will work with these new bulbs. Will report back once I get them installed.

Has anyone given these a try yet? The reviews on the site sounds promising. Or is there any other alternatives you guys recommend to aid backward visibility?

I have installed these (and wrote the 3 star review), and although they are brighter by a bit and install easily I don’t think they are worth the high price based on the loose fit of the rubber “universal” grommet. I expect the light bulbs will spin out of alignment over time and water will intrude then freeze as well spelling trouble. We will see, YMMV... I won’t return them but I would not buy them again if I had the choice.

The problem is not only the backup bulb but also the poor low light capability of the camera... not much we can do about that though.

Hah, we're everywhere ^_^.

Did you have the stock halogen lights or did you have the LEDs? Trying to see which they were better compared to.

I upgraded from the non-led backup lights, so I’m not sure if you’ll see an improvement from the led option... the camera simply struggles in low light.

@JAK - my Laramie and bunch others I looked at came with full LED lighting. IMO my reverse lights are great. Camera is clean and clear picture even with truck dirty or in rain.

The RAM has the best camera picture quality Ive seen. They went away from twisted pair fir video and instead now use a coax. Its high resolution and crystal clear. Even at night..

Thanks. Thought I was the only one who felt this way. Mine is HD quality, and even in very low light, it is magnitudes better than my prior luxury SUVs.

I will agree that the camera has a great resolution in optimal lighting conditions, but as others have stated it is awful in low light environments. I wonder if FCA has used different camera sensors throughout production to explain why some consider it great in low light.

Either that or it could just be what we're comparing it on. I did not own a prior gen 1500, so I have no way of knowing if better or worse, but my prior vehicle was pretty awful at night, and compared to that vehicle, my new Limited kills it, even at night w/ no other ambient lighting.
