Wheels and Tires (Budget)

Just bought a Ram and I am looking to get new wheels and tires. I am looking at All Terrain 275/70/18 with a -10 or -12 offset. I have been looking for about a week now and have some in mind that look promising but I wanted to get your thoughts. Preferably, I would like to keep it under $2,000 in total for both wheels and tires. Since I live in New England, I would like the tires to be better than average in the snow. You will likely need at least a -12 to clear properly. With a 33" tire, it should fit with no trimming on a stock ride height truck.

The standard wheel and tire a lot of people get is probably a Method wheel, which can be had depending on model from $250 - $300 street price. The tires, that's honestly a huge mix of options, which I'll leave to others to mention. But you should be able to get a wheel & A/T tire combo you outlined in the $2K or less range.

I would go to Discount/Americas Tire page and start using their configurator for pricing and availability. As you narrow down the prices you can afford on tires, I would then check those model of tires online for review and opinions to what you would like best.

I ended up moving to a 20" wheel on mine due to the difficulty making aftermarket 18" wheels fit. I agree that you should be able to get a combo that works for <$2000, depending on tire selection and size. I chose to go with Yokohama Geolandar G015 tires because they are a less aggressive A/T that is 3 peaks rated (winter) and less expensive than the popular K02's.

I’ve been looking at alternate setups in 18” lately, and I can’t find anything decent for $2k- every build I do is between $2600-3200. I’ve mainly been looking at method and fuel though. You could probably do it if you found some ebay wheels for <$200 each and got cheap tires.

Yeah I was looking at the Geolander tires, I like them a lot.

A 0 offset will be fine. Looks like you have a Big Horn, so OEM wheels are 18x8 with +19mm offset. Getting the same backspacing on a 9" wide wheel (standard for aftermarket 18's) would be a +6mm offset.

Good luck getting it under $2k with mount and balance unless you buy a sub $200 wheel. My Level 8 Mk6's were about $150 a wheel at the time, and it still came out to a little over $800 after taxes and install.

I was just browsing Discount tire and to do the Yokohama's in 275/70r18 with Pro Comp 33 18" 0 offset wheels would be $2373 with mounting and certificates (warranty). A little over your $2000 price tag, but depending on the wheels you get, you may be able to get below the $2000 mark. I went with 295/65r20 and Level 8 Slingshot wheels and paid $2800. Bigger tires = bigger cost.

Any reason you don't want 20"s? It may be less headache to find wheels that clear the brakes than asking the manufacturers if each 18" does clear. Most of the tires are available in each size as well. I'm looking for someone to try the Cooper AT3 4S . Check weight of tire if you are concerned about mpg; the lighter the better.

He is going to drop 2-3 mpg right off the bat with 33" A/T tires compared to the factory street tires on 18" wheels.

I found a set of Night Edition Rebel wheels/tires on Craigslist for $1000 with a couple hundred miles on them. The 275/70x18 Duratracs aren't 3 peak rated but they do work pretty well in snow. You could add Bora wheel spacers and get the -10/12 offset for about $300.

It took a few months to find them. I found a few sets of regular Rebel wheels/tires, but I really wanted the Night Edition wheels. Check Facebook Marketplace too.

i can find the regular wheels all day long but the night editions are not commonly for sale in central florida
