For those of you that use a BAK Industries X4S hatd roll up tonneau cover in the northern part of the US or canada that gets ice and snow in the winter months how do you like it? I'm not worried about the warm climate reviews as im in New England so I'm concerned about the cold winter reviews. I've seen reviews that say when there's frost or ice on the cover that it can be a pain to roll up. Is that true and is it a major problem? Are there any other problems that would prevent you from recommending or buying the BAK X4S hard roll up cover again? I'm currently using a cheap soft velcro roll up cover I got from amazon for $179. that has been great and there's very little water intrusion but Im liking the idea of hard cover and the looks of the lower profile hard covers. Any information would be greatly appreciated

I have had 2 of them. First on a 19 Trail Boss which I traded for a 21 Rebel. It is so good that my brother got a 22 Ford Lightning and he put it on his truck as well. I chose it because of the low profile, and the durability of being more solid than a soft rollup cover. Have had no issues with either of them, although it stays closed for the most part. The guides are covered so when I have taken it off in winter it opened/closed with no issues. There is some leakage around the tailgate, but that is pretty common with covers and not a big issue. Quality is top notch and it is well built.

Thanks for the info. Do you by chance have a picture of it closed against the tailgate? I understand a little waster will get in. None are completely water tight and thats pretty much the only place my cheap soft roll up cover leaks too. I'd like to see better pictures of where and how it rests against the tailgate other than just the stock advertisement pictures.

Nice. I’ve been eyeing this cover up to eventually replace my Mopar Tri-Fold. Where is a good place to buy these and what’s a good price?

I got both of mine from Tonneaucoverworld.com and did the online chat. Was a pain, but they discount when you use online chat so I felt like I got a good deal….

Anyone have issues hitting the opening/locking lever when entering/exiting or putting things in the bed?

So far I have not, although I can see where that could be an issue depending on how your bed gets used. My cover is on 99% of the time.

This is one of my concerns as well because the tonneau rails sit on the inside of the bed rails. Having thought about it, I'm thinking since the tonneau rails don't extend past the wheel wells you probably wouldn't contact them, but I'd guess it depends on what you put in the bed. Large items like a washer or dryer or something like that would be between the wheel wells away from any contact with them. Obviously this is opinion as I don't have this cover yet

How is the cover looking? I saw one that the slat outlines showed thru.

I have not noticed any issues with how it is holding up and the truck lives outside in the northeast. I put a protectant on it when it gets washed to keep it looking good.
