Jesus f*cking christ that is expensive.. i'm assuming that the Tazer module just plugs and stays in your OBD port indefinitely??
It plugs in to the factory harness for the security gateway module. Your OBD2 port stays open. Also acts as a SGW bypass if you wa t to use alfaOBD. There are lots of other features it provides that you may find useful. I love mine, and feel it was worth the price. You can find them on group buys for $50 off several times a year.

aren't humans funny?
pay 50 to 70K or more for a truck and complain about $300.
It is a little humorous. However, I'd like to know how many prospective buyers Ram surveyed said..."I like the tech on your truck, and if you can make it yell at me when I step out of the running truck with the fob in my pocket, we have a deal!"

And in fairness to the OP, the fact that a $300 accessory can disable the honk shows that Ram either deliberately chose to add this feature and lock it, or didn't consider at all that some buyers wouldn't like it, neither of which is an acceptable approach.

southwest. where majority rules
the horn honking comes from people leaving their vehicle running and kids putting it in drive or reverse when the driver gets out
and we have argued this to death in this thread

So it tries to replace common sense except now the horn just beeps three times and nothing else changed.

Disabling the vehicle by not allowing it to shift out of park without a key fob would make more sense. I have not tested on this truck but my 4th Gens could still be shifted out of park and driven without the key fob in the truck once started. That’s a pretty serious glitch in the system that uses keyless start.

Not saying that some people wouldn't use this feature, just that there should be a choice to turn it on and off, without having to spend more money. What is the rationale that the honk cannot be disabled, but forward collision warning and rear brake assist can be turned off?

You know they could have a much easier fix. It would be cheaper for Ram, cheaper for the consumer and you would never have to worry about where your fob is, damaging it or having the big *** thing in your pocket.

It's an ingenious device.

Works well and is durable and compact.

They are 100% waterproof.

The battery in them never goes dead.

You may remember these small metal devices we used to use to unlock the door and start the vehicle. It was once called a key.

It's also great for making my wife run to the window with a "WTF" expression when I stop at the bottom of the driveway to get mail.

So any other way to permanently defeat this other than with a Tazer?

I really like the idea that the triple honk alerts potential car thieves that a driver has just left his vehicle running and unattended. That's always a bonus.
Well, since almost every new vehicle has this feature, shouldn't be too much of a concern, and if you are going to walk that far away from your vehicle that a thief, who probably wasn't even looking to steal a car until he heard the honk, can run to your vehicle, jump in, and drive off before you have time to stop them, probably should have just turned the truck off.

After researching the Tazer I’m actually thinking about going that route to eliminate the three beeps. Looks to be a few other features I would like to change including DRL’s and the ability to change tire sizes later. Looks like it will also replace my AutoStop Eliminator so it would no longer be needed.🤔
