Actually, I am a cheap beer and good bourbon drinker. Miller High Life is all the beer I need. Maybe an occasional Guiness.

I'm not a beer nerd, but I know what I like.

What I like: almost any german beer, since no preservatives = no hangover
Can't go wrong with Franziskaner, Paulaner, HofBrau etc. The greatest thing for me about traveling around Germany is that almost every town has its own beer, and they're all good and have usually been in business since before the American revolution.

what I don't like: almost any IPA. All the local microbreweries that popped up everywhere love brewing them, and they all taste like sh%t IMO. I know nothing about brewing, but suspect that IPA are 'easy' to brew? A local brewery has 15 or so beers on tap, of which all but a few are IPA - most of them with added nonsensical fruity ingredients to mask the sh&t taste. Personal opinion

Haven't drank a lot of German beers, but right there with you on IPAs.

Alpirsbacher Klosterbrau Radler - which is a mix of a hefeweizen and a cola. It was great!

That's a lie, they don't make good IPAs.

20 years ago I couldn't stand them. But as I started trying different craft beer I started liking them a little. Now they are my favorite especially in warm weather, but I still like porter and stout in cold weather. Only thing I avoid is light or lite, just too bland. Also had a jai alai ipa from cigar city brewing out of Tampa on draft a couple days ago but forgot about the photo.

Last one I tried, was a local brewery, provided beer after a veteran pheasant hunt. Other guys who said they don't normally like IPAs said it was good and wasn't hoppy like most IPAs. Figured I'd give it a try. Still nasty.
