Just wondering if anyone has listened to the stock big horn and alpine speakers? is there much of a quality difference is it worth the 500 dollar upgrade?

Can't really offer an opinion on the Big Horn system but can say I remain impressed with the Alpine system.

I have heard both, its worth the 495, The stock isn't bad, but when you turn up the alpine, it handles higher levels on volume better, My next ram will have the nicer 8.4 screen and alpine.

I had a 2016 ram 1500 big horn without the Alpine system.
After purchasing my 2019 ram 1500 Laramie the sound system is incredible the bass and clarity is 10 times better.

Do you have the alpines or just the 2019 stock speakers?

I’ve listened to both Stock and Alpine in Big Horns. It is a night and day difference. The fact that you are asking, tells me that you should spend the money.

I'd swap my Harmon Kardon in a moment's notice for the Alpine. Had it in my 16 Sport and wife has it in her JLUR. IMO the best stock system I've heard. That's comparing against HK, Meridian, Revel, Bose, and B&O.

Regarding my post? I was just going off the window stickers and badging on the speakers. The ones I referenced were in previous vehicles we have owned.

If you are just looking through trucks on the lot, a quick tell is the center speaker on the dash will have Alpine written in white.
I don't think mine has Alpine. I'll have to look when i get off in an hour...

The sticker says the 2019 sport comes with a 10 speaker system...and the Alpine upgrade is 9 speakers. Im getting very confused. Im guessing the sport/laramie models have upgraded speakers compared to the tradesman/bighorn but still worse than alpine?

It is a 10 speaker system. 3 in the dash, 1 in each door, 2 in the rear of the headliner, and the subwoofer. The wording is a little bit different sometimes but the system is the same.

My dealer stated that the stock system is also made by Alpine

That's what I thought. I've looked at a sport with and without the alpine system and the speakers look pretty much the same minus the alpine logo on the center speaker over the dash. Might stick with the stock ones then...seems like a marketing thing not really worth $500 imo

I do not know the manufacturer of the base system but when we say Alpine on this forum, we mean the Amplified System with the Subwoofer. If you like to listen to music, spend the money. If not, you'll be heavily involved in this thread https://5thgenrams.com/community/threads/5th-gen-stock-stereo-upgrade-options.926/page-15#post-66497 and most likely kicking yourself.

In my opinion it is worth it. It is a relatively cheap option and even if you swap speakers out like I am, you are getting more power to them than you would from the stock system. The subwoofer is also a large bonus. I will be adding my own sub down the line but the Alpine will hold me over for now.
