Anyone else completely missing this on their (2022) truck? I was reading about how people didn't have this active from the factory and were using AlfaOBD to turn it on. Then I saw a comment from someone who said this didn't work on their MY2022. So I double-checked my build sheet and sure enough, no mention of tailgate ajar warning at all.

Not sure what I'm more upset about; the fact that it's completely missing, or the fact that I didn't notice until now.

And lastly, I'm guessing not but is there a way to add this functionality? I consider this a semi-serious safety issue. If my tailgate pops open on the highway I won't know anything about it.

With it working, it also turns on the cargo and LED bed lights when the tailgate is opened. I turned mine on with Alfa. Was on when I bought the truck, then with an OTA update, they turned it off, I turned mine back on with changing CBC Config IO F Pin 26 Connector F Pin 26: Trunk/Liftgate Ajar Signal Input Present: from No to Yes
You can probably do the same, not sure if they took this feature out altogether or just quit using it in the software. If you were closer I would turn it on for you for free. See if anyone near you has Alfa or just buy it yourself.

Haven't received my truck yet. I looked at my BS and I do see that "Tailgate Ajar Warning Lamp" is listed under the "Optional Equipment" Section. I'm a little puzzled why this would be included as optional equipment.

See highlighted on my window sticker below.
Yeah I'm missing it entirely (not listed on my BS, or my WS). My bed lights come on when I open the tailgate, not sure if my cargo lights do as I've yet to open it at night without already having turned on the cargo lights manually myself (so I'll have to test that). But it looks like whatever wires/sensors are required for the ajar warning are just physically not present on my truck, which means AlfaOBD won't do me any good :cautious:

Don't be so sure, I have a friend with a 2019 RAM Laramie that it wasn't listed on his sticker and I turned it on and it worked.

This is another thread I noticed mentioning this Alphobd - is there a running thread that shows everything that can be done? Considering if this is something I may want for when my truck shows up to customize some things.

May be worth a shot. But I'm still a little freaked out by this member who tried to turn it on and it didn't work.

@AngelPhoenix you were involved in the thread where JBowman enabled the tailgate ajar warning in his Big Horn. Using his post as motivation, I did the same to my Laramie. I can't see why your Limited wouldn't have the same capability.

I will probably end up giving it a shot anyway but idk. Might be a shortage thing. Or a Uconnect 5 thing. Who knows. It's probably worth getting for tweaking a handful of other settings (and you can recalibrate your speedo for bigger tires with it too, right?). Just don't want to spend $100+ only to set myself up for disappointment lol.

@Jimmy07 will be able to answer this.

Yes, it looks like for 2022, they have stopped using the tailgate latch with the ajar switch all together on trucks that are not optioned with the tailgate ajar feature (which now only seems to be MFT equipped trucks). You can still enable it, but you’ll have to swap out the passenger side tailgate latch, and run the ajar sense wire to the BCM (or to whatever connector that ajar wire terminates).

I have it listed on my BS: https://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/BuildSheetServlet?vin=1C6SRFHTXNN112757

I think it's tied in with the MFT.

I think that AlfaOBD, scanner, and gateway are worth every penny and doesn't need to cost $100+. I got AlfaOBD for $49, this scanner for $21, and this security bypass for $25. Works great and has been used several times. I enabled my tailgate ajar warning, changed DRL's to amber lights, and changed tire size after installing my new wheels and 35" tires. I am still searching for additional changes that I could make. I am considering installing The TTPMS and turning it on.

That's what I needed to know, thank you.

@Idahoktm you weren't kidding, Jimmy knew!

Why would they do this though...I don't get it...?

Has anyone tried backing up, or driving with it down? Maybe it doesn't alert you if the truck is stationary. Just a thought.

Yeah, he's a wealth of information.

Very puzzling. I certainly understand why it's more important to have the ajar warning on trucks with the MFT. Maybe the tailgate ajar switch is another victim of the supply chain shortages.

Seems safety features are being affected by the shortages.
