I'm close to 'pulling the trigger' on ordering a '22 Rebel. What I've selected so far is 5.7 Hemi eTorque | Elec shift on demand transfer case | 33 gal tank | Level B package | Comfort & Conv Package | Mopar Side Steps | Mopar Bed liner | U Connect 5 with Nav | Trailer Brake controller.
Wondering about the camera system ( if it's even available right now, the website lets me add it, I know that doesn't always mean it's really available ).
This will be my first truck, big change from my '07 Subaru Outback XT Limited. Obviously that's a small vehicle in comparison. Heck, it would nearly fit in the bed. Well, OK, not really, I'm getting 5'7" bed .
I did test drive an F-150 with their 360 degree camera and found it quite compelling, felt it would be very useful on a large vehicle. On the F150 it's a stand-alone option, about $750 or something like that.
Here on the Rebel, it's part of the Advanced Safety Group and is more than double that price.
Have to draw the line somewhere on adding options to the build, but just wondering if I'll regret not having the camera in the future.
Interested in thoughts from any Rebel , or other trim, owners who have the Surround View Camera.

From what they told me when I ordered a couple weeks ago, you can’t get the advanced safety group on a Rebel right now. Due to the chip shortage they’re only putting that on the Laramie until further notice. How accurate or true that is, I can’t say but of all of the things I ordered on my rebel, that one was “not available.” Even tho I could add it on the build online page, they could not order it.

I’ve had surround cam on other vehicles. It’s awesome. Huge bummer I couldn’t get it, but not a show stopper at all.

It’s a must have for me. And for what it’s worth, both of my Rebel orders have it. So if it’s not available to be added today, just wait a week or two. It will likely be back. It went on restriction in late October, but came back shortly thereafter.

Didn't get it myself. Think it depends on where you're at and what you're doing. I'm not in tight parking situations very often. Haven't towed anything so can't say how much it helps with that.

I have the setting on that tilts my sideview mirrors all the way down whenever I throw 'er in reverse, which helps me not hit curbs and such.

Probably one of those things that once you've had it you don't want to go without it, but it certainly doesn't seem like a "can't live without it" feature to me.

Ok so I’ve heard of peeps being told “hey this feature is gonna delay your truck, we can take it off and proceed.” 1. Is that true? And 2. If so can they ADD a feature that wasn’t available when the order was placed but is before it goes into production?

Or are both of those things I said hosspuckies??

I ordered with the ASG in the middle of December and have an estimated ship date of February 20th according to my dealer. I placed the order like 2 days after the restriction had lifted. I had been waiting till I could order it.

It may delay my order, who knows, but I rather wait for a truck configured as I want it.

Well now I feel dooooooped. I ordered 12/28 and was told I still could not order the ASG.

As far as the advanced safety group, the surround view camera is nice and I’m glad I have it but honestly, my favorite feature is the adaptive cruise control. I actually use that more than the standard cruise control

of course you will not miss something you do not have if you choose not to order the surround view cameras. they sure make parking these trucks so super easy, get it.
I grew up in NYC, you parked well, and fast, or you died...

But seriously, you should see how quickly I get this 20-foot long thing into tight spaces without touching anything, Not bragging persay (maybe a little?) just saying. I don't need cameras to park.

Looks like you are planning on pulling a trailer from time to time from your description. You can hook up trailers by yourself, like I did for years. Back up, get out and look, back up a little more, get out and look, back up just a touch more and look. Have you ever picked up the tongue of the trailer to pull it forward and have a trailer wheel hit a dip in the ground and slam the back of the truck because you can't hold back the trailer, boat and motor. You get the idea. With the surround camera in magnify mode, you can put the hitch right where you want it the first time. It's worth it just for this purpose alone.

Adaptive cruise control is another advance, that once you learn how it works, how to use it, and trust it, it makes road trips easier and less tiring for you. You still have to pay attention. I never use it in heavy stop and go traffic, but out on the open road I'm glad I have it.

Once you take possession of your Rebel, hope you enjoy owning the truck. I sure do like my RAM.

Surround view is a must if you have little kids… keeps you from running over their stuff and god forbid, them…. I’ve seen too many kids killed by their parents over the years by backing over them. happens more than you think….. get the camera !!!!

Damn, that's easily the best argument I've seen for the system. You'd have just made me feel super guilty for not getting if my son was half his age 😅

Don't forget about dogs and cats. That will break your heart too.

I thought back up camera's were mandatory after 2011 model years. First contact for us is the wife's 16 Maxima. Camera, adaptive cruise control and auto braking. It took me awhile to get comfortable with all of it. I knew the next truck would have those features as well. They are great tools, but you still have to accept full responsibility when you are behind the wheel.
