It’s been a great year on this forum. I have enjoyed viewing and participating daily. You have all been very helpful and kind. I do hope I have helped at least a few. Now that my Ram is gone, I will not monitor this forum (OK I will check in a few times weekly I am sure).

Since we sold to a dealer with several car lines, and since they offered more than Vroom and even more than I paid last year, If I purchased something else at any branch, I got a waiver on sales tax. We were going to take the cash and wait, buy a beater, but while driving by another branch of the dealer about 1 hour away on Monday , I noticed about 6 new mustang Mach-E’s. I thought they were back order for months and really had little interest. We stopped and asked to take one for a spin.

Apparently a Solar company ordered 10 and ended up only taking 4. The dealer got them a few weeks back and was selling at MSRP. No gouging. Of course you can count all of the Maine DC fast chargers on two hands and the closest is 1 hour South of the Dealer (2 hours from me) , so they only sold one so far.

They offered up a loaner to drive so the wife and I went for a 30 minute spin. We were quite impressed. We already own one EV and my company recently installed free chargers so we pondered the idea of having two, knowing there is no fuel costs.

We talked with the dealer and did some research and found there were about $12,100 in incentives right now as well as a Ford Options Financing plan tailored for EVs. Finally no tax. So, I spoke with the sales guy again and he offered the loaner for another 2 days for nothing. I guess he thought I was interested. I took the offer and put about 300 miles on it. It self parks, parallel and side by side, has following adaptive cruise, lane keep, full led lighting and a 15.5” screen. In another few months full hands free self driving via a download on the highways, plus a 200+ mile range. Complete silence in the interior. I thought my Ram was quiet. A true keyless entry using your phone and 3 others and everything tailors to the driver. It also has 468 foot pounds of instant torque, holy moly. 0-60 in 5-2.

We took delivery of a new 2021 Mach-E AWD today. A lower payment, shorter term, than my Ram and a $300 per month savings on gas. Insurance was only a few hundred difference per year. Plus with the Ford Options, if it turns out to be a dud, like Chevy Bolt values, with battery fires, or an unreliable mess, battery degradation, you can walk away from the loan after 3 or 4 years, your choice, like a lease.

So we will be on the Mach E forums and learning a lot about it over the next few months. Thank you all! The Ram is a great truck and who knows, the electric Ram is coming soon.....

Those are fun. You'll miss having a truck when you need truck stuff, but EVs are still slick and cool. I think Ford did a nice job on it....even if it is a little silly to call it a Mustang 😉

Enjoy!

So just an update on the Mach E if anyone cares (I know a few did). My range has been 256 miles (rated for 211) per charge for my All Wheel Drive Standard Range. Zero reliability issues (so far) and now 3600 miles ( in 8 weeks). Average of 3.9 Mi/kWh efficiency, That equates to 132 MPGe (Energy to Energy).

So if I had to buy the power, at home, for $0.17/kWh, it would equate to 71 MPG for a gas car with mid grade gas at $3.50/gallon.

But since power is free at work (for now) it has only cost me $93 for home power for that 3600 Miles, so that equals $0.00027 per mile or an overall gas car equivalent (gas at $3.50/gallon) of 135 Miles per gallon. With gas what it is ($3.50/gallon), over my 2020 Bighorn, I have saved $370 per month in gas so far.

Yes, I still gawk at those Rams on the road and I have crossed paths with my old truck a few times (since it was sold locally, and it now has a huge freaking white door ding in the passenger side door, when I traded it was perfect) but the Mach E is a decent EV with lots of power, room and great economy.

I hope you all are well... and when gas gets back to pre-election numbers, another RAM may be in my future.

Nice update! I'll drop the hammer everywhere I go tomorrow in ol blue and try to balance out your numbers with my smiles per gallon.

Congrats on your new ride. Seems like you cleaned up financially.

Having said that, as a Mustang owner I'm just offended that they used the iconic American Muscle Mustang name on an E car.

They literally could have called it anything else, but decided that they'd get more "car people" interested if they said it was a muscle car as opposed to a Prius on steroids.

Sorry, I'm not ripping on you OP, just Ford.

Anyone remember when they tried to introduce the Probe GT as a Mustang? The Mustang world went nuts!

This is my Mustang. Bought it new in '06 and my son and I started twisting wrenches. Just turned over 36k miles. Total garage queen that only comes out when the sun is shinning and there's not rain in the forecast for a week.

The reason why its called a mustang is simple, they didn't want something with a non mustang nameplate faster than the mustang, the mustang mach e does 0-60 in the the mid 3 seconds, so that is why.
Then why didn't they call it a GT? Same 0-60 times. Because the GT is $500k and the Estang is affordably priced in comparison. No. This was all about marketing.

Good luck with your new car - I hope it lives up to your expectations.

But that's about as far as I can go with the cordials and pleasantries, as the owner of a REAL Mustang Mach 1.

Very nice car!

I restored a couple of old Mustangs. I had a 67 convertible with a replacement 302 4 speed toploader that I literally put together from boxes - a guy had owned it and decided to restore it down to the unibody, so he stripped every part off it, got the unibody done and then abandoned it. It sat on blocks for 10 years in a garage with no garage door before I bought it in the late 90s. We rigged up the rear axle and front wheels so I could get it winched onto a flatbed and towed to my house about 100 miles away. Loaded up as much of the parts as could reasonably fit in the cabin, then filled the rest of my truck with parts. The kicker was he took every single fastener on the car off and dumped them into one huge 5 gallon bucket with no labels 😲. The wiring was an enormous box of spaghetti. My wife laughed at me for buying this car and told me I was never going to get that car put back together. Not only did I get it put back together, but I drove it for several years as a daily and then doubled my money when I sold it (though in hindsight I should have kept it, for what they're worth today). The roughest part was sorting out all the fasteners - I bought a Ford fastener manual, then got a tarp and dumped the whole bucket on the garage floor and started sorting - 16 obvious head bolts; 12 painted valve cover bolts; etc - and zip-lock bagging everything as I sorted it. Amazingly enough, everything was there. As soon as I find a picture of it I'll post it up.

I looked on Google Drive but I didn't have any there, which isn't surprising since I did this car about 25 years ago and there wasn't any Google Drive back then :ROFLMAO: . I'll have to dig through the pictures at home - you know, the old fashioned ones that came from Kodak - and find one that I can scan or take a picture of a picture with my phone, and I'll post it up (and my hard top too if I can find one of those).

Not trying to hijack the thread...

But Thanks Guys! It's actually a '71, w/the original 351C punched out .060" with tons of Edelbrock, CompCams, Accel, Canton, and others go-fast goodies under the hood - the CamQuest utility from CompCams said I should expect about 400hp at the crank with all the goodies and stuff I did to the engine. It has an AOD from an '89 5.0 GT 'vert, and factory 9" w/3.00 rear gears. It was a pile of rust in the shape of a Mustang, with a seized engine, flogged transmission, Fred Flintstone floors and trunk, and just about everything else was toast. Took me 4 years to get it shiny and all back together, but I'm still finishing up little details. Inside is all new tech wrapped up in an old school package - I've done everything on this car except the finish body work & paint. EFI, AOD, power everything (windows, locks, trunk release, alarm system, etc.), monster stereo with USB & Bluetooth, modern HVAC, updated lighting (LED lighting everywhere), etc. I also went with the old school look with the Cragar S/Ss - 15x8s up front w/245/60R15s and 15x10s w/295/50R15s out back - looks pretty meaty and those Cooper Cobras give off some pretty smoky burn-outs, too. I also 'blasted and repainted the Lakewood 'slapper' traction bars and tossed 'em back on. This is the one I would've had back in the early '80s when I first fell in love with cars.

Here are a few early pics - from the Craigslist ad (July 2010):
DayOne.jpg

Took some shots outside the shop before starting - this is the interior:
Interior_starting_point1.JPG

Starting in on it at the shop - all of that rust 'snow' on the floor fell when the air impact wrench was busting loose the bumper bolts. 6 dustpans removed on the first day:
teardown1.jpg

The front clip was so bad I had to cut it off and weld on a 'new' one from a '72:
firewall3.jpg

I also had to replace (cut & weld) the floors, trunk, taillight panel, inner wheel houses, parts of the cowl, rockers & firewall, and quarter panels. Then, bolt on new fenders and front & rear valances - kept the hood, roof, doors, and most of the cowl.

Finally, off to the painter, using my buddy's H2 & trailer:

After getting it home and reassembling, we won Best In Class at the first local car show (I was literally putting the Mach 1 stickers on at 11:30PM the night before):

Ryan and Horny Mike (from Count's Kustoms) presented the People's Choice award. It was an AWESOME day!

It’s intriguing with the incentives, but depends on your use case (certainly not hauling or towing with it). I think lease is a sensible option on this with the ev technology evolving so quickly. I looked at the wrangler 4xe. Cool now, but it will do only 20 miles on full electric. That will be laughable in 5 years.
I read online that there is now a Million Mile Battery. Which means it is warrantied for a million miles. However, Tesla says it charges in 10 minutes and has a normal 500 mile range. In the near future the report says, owners will be looking for a new body/chassis and be able to put the million mile battery in it.. sounds like it will be a pricey battery!

Another Mustang EV update and I am a Ram Owner again.

Happy New Year to you all.

BTW I am a RAM owner again. A rust free 3rd Gen high Output Cummins 1 ton Dually Quad 4x4 with dump bed that I bought from my Uncles Estate in CA and drove 3600 miles home. Some work to do but I needed something to wrench on since I now drive all electric vehicles.

So my 2021 Mustang Mach E Electric operating cost numbers are in. In 6 months I drove 11,298 miles. My out of pocket electricity cost was $298. If I had to pay for it all(it’s free at work) at home, it would have been $596.00. So far 100% reliability.

If I still had my 2020 Ram and drove those same miles, about $2400 in gas.

What about range? My base model select AWD gave me 230-259 miles per charge all summer/fall and 150 miles in 15F cold weather. About 165 at 30F. My longest road trip was 700 miles.

Anyway, like my Ram, in this crazy sellers market, I sold my ‘21 Mach E to Vroom for exactly what I paid, so got all of my rebates, incentives, equity from my Ram, and payments back in my Hand and 11,300 free miles . I upgraded to another Mach E Premium Extended Range AWD electric for the same cost of my Base model’s Window sticker ( due to reinvesting my money in Hand).

With the larger battery, I expect 75% of my power will come free from work which will be about 1/2 the operating cost of my Base model ($150 for 11,000 miles) and $600 if I have to pay it all at home.

I am currently at 195 miles of range at 10F, 205 at 30F and in the summer will see just over 300 miles.

Anyway, I know this is a Ram Forum but a few members wanted regular updates. I shall chime in again this summer.

Be safe and have a great Winter. I know politics are not welcomed either….but

If you see fit, get Vaccinated. Yesterday, Sadly, I just lost my 44 year old, healthy, fit, non smoking, marathon running, Construction Site Superintendent, who recently took my advice and bought a New Ram Bighorn 4x4 Crew, 4 weeks ago. He was unvaccinated and had no preexisting conditions. He got community transmitted Covid (discovered with at work testing), then Covid double pneumonia, VentI later, then Covid organ failure, leaving two teenage boys with a mortgage, car and truck payment, medical bills, and most Importantly without a Dad. It’s just not worth a political statement any longer. The benefits far outweigh the risk.

But…..we are in America and we are certainly free to make are own decisions. Again be safe an healthy in 2022 Enjoying your Rams.

I'm sorry for your loss, I'm sorry to hear that.
It's horrible way to go

I know a 39 year old who got the "Safe" vaccine, within a day had a stroke, went into a coma, and died inside of a week.
Turned 40 in a coma surrounded by family.
She's dead now.
Her family was reeling from another close loss - they had a very sad Christmas this year.
The vaccines carry risks too, particularly for young healthy people, even if twitter won't admit it and the TV is too afraid to say it.

I have 2 friends with myocarditis post vaccine (there's no such thing as mild myocarditis) and 1 acquaintance.
2 women who now have a VERY heavy flow every 2 weeks. Coinflip on what that means for them down the road.
Can they have kids anymore? Anyone know?
Anyone care?
Post on twitter and get banned.
Post it on facebook and someone will have the gall to tell them it's a "coincidence" and they believe in bigfoot.

Quite a lot of vaccinated people I know ended up getting the virus over the past few months, some with the exact same case they likely would have had in their age/health cohort - with a total coinflip on longterm safety.
Which is concerning how we went from "2 jabs and the pandemic is over for you!" to "put your mask back on, 4 jabs to keep your job and MAYBE it lessens your case (no promises, no refunds)."

The TV won't say this, but plenty of vaccinated people are dying too.
Plenty.
Everywhere they record and admit that data it's the case.

If you live in a state that lets you get treatment if you get COVID, IMHO it's a good idea.
Monoclonal anti-bodies are worth a shot, as are the drugs that won't be named. And I'm not talking about remdesivir.

I'm sorry for your loss, but at this point there are victims all around us from 2021, and the "fixes" we are being offered have risks of their own, and those risks are being dramatically understated.
This is post one and only for me on this - I will not back and forth with you in your own thread, this thread is yours, god speed and good luck with your vehicles, good to have you back on the Ram board.

Those negative shot cases are very rare.

I lost a friend and uncle recently who thought they did need it.

Personal choice, yes, but can’t believe everything you read online about the evil vaccine.
