On a bit of a related side note, just purchased the extended warranty from Ziegler for my 22’. So, If you’re gonna do it (which you should the 12” screen alone is over 3k) their pricing can’t be beat, period.

my dealer couldn’t even come close and couldn’t see how theirs was so low…. Also if you pay in full and use the ‘payinfull’ promo code it gets you even more $$ off.

8 year/125k miles with $200 deductible was $2490. I know there’s another thread on warranties but I thought I’d throw out the reminder.

Geez man that is so F**** up. I can't understand why they can't build the damn truck you ordered?
The interesting part is that there seems to be no consistency on anything. I've heard several stories from others, about factory deletions and substitutions. And on the other hand, I've heard some people say that the factory is getting involved and building the trucks as-ordered.
In a lot of cases, I'm hearing that Ram Chat is escalating peoples' cases, whereas with my order they just say "contact your dealer, we can't do anything to help you".

I can understand why some people do it but I've never in my life purchased an extra/extended warranty on anything, and I've never regretted not doing so. Everyone's experience is different.

Ya…, I get it… I never used to on anything that I bought. But, then my 2005 ford engine blew a head gasket at 101k miles, then our Tahoe blew the tranny out of warranty, and with all the tech in these trucks I figured just one problem and it’ll be worth it….. I’m just ’prepaying’ for my future issue so that later I can feel all warm and good about it 🙄. Man, I need therapy…..

Depends on how much you use it, if your putting 100k on it in 4 years, it might be worth a bit to kepp everything in shape past warranty

Oh for sure. Can hardly put a price on peace of mind, and if you know you're gonna beat the shiz out of it, it's probably worth it.

Just in ALL of my use cases and experiences so far (with everything from TV's to vehicles), it would have been a waste of money for me. Of course, now that I'm blabbing about it here, I'm sure my Hemi is softly ticking in the background and I haven't even driven my truck yet 😅

Same here. It’s kind of like most home warranties, they’re all trash anyway. I can’t count the number of people I know that had an HVAC blow out in July only to have to wait for 4 months before it was replaced ”under warranty”. Screw that jazz. You’re rolling the dice and likely wasting the money anyway. If it wasn’t profitable, these companies wouldn’t offer it.

I will say I purchased the 6 year/125,000 MaxCare on my 2020 Limited I traded just in case. With all the electrical jazz on the truck if basic ran out it can get VERY expensive. I don't keep my vehicles that long normally, but JUST IN CASE I do/am "forced" to I think the peace-of-mind is worth it.

I received a credit back for about 85% of what I paid for it so in my mind there's really nothing to lose especially if you get the Ziegler price. My dealer matched them last time-I'll see if this dealer will do the same this time. If not I'll buy direct from Ziegler.

As an equipment sales professional I see the "ugly side" of repair costs when not covered by a factory-backed extended warranty. It's bloody.......

Well you can add one more to that uncountable list because this EXACT scenario (nearly) just happened my parents. Dead @$$. HVAC crapped out last week of July, company told them there was a clause in the warranty that they were supposed to sign/accept to extend it to 5 years after the initial 4 and they weren't gonna be covered. Parents called BS, they "granted" them the extension, but it still took till two weeks ago for them to get it fixed.

Couple of years back, covered a new phone with an "anything happens" $50 deductible plan. I managed to replace that phone 7 time in 5 years. (Didn't even bother with a case.) I did not buy the plan on my current phone... 4-years and no issues. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Closer to the forum topic, it all boils down to your risk tolerance. Frankly, it is a bit counter intuitive... If you have the ability to absorb the cost of a major out of warranty expense, you are better of not spending the money because the actuarial analysis indicates the vehicle is not likely to fail. (This is how the companies make profit.) If you do not have the ability to absorb a major expense, you are better off with the extended warranty to avoid a cascade crisis. (Truck fails and no money to fix, lose job without transport, lose house because no job, etc...) Personally, we have a break glass in case of emergency credit card, and will not be adding an extended warranty.

I usually never buy them either but I am glad we did with my wife's 2014 jeep. That thing was a POS, steering rack, ecu, and engine all had to be replaced before 100k miles. Had the engine replaced and got rid of that garbage but luckily it was all covered under the extended warranty.

Wow....Sounds like you are being treated like us Canadians....this is all so frustrating ...but guys who get their truck say the wait is worth it...but just passed 7 months for me and patience is wearing thin....

I have found out Ram chat has no real power. They did escalate my order not that it really helped much. I got Jeff IDK if Jeff or Cara are real or just chat bots with canned responses. Jeff told me that he was in contact with the people at

Personally I am on the fence about an extended warranty. I do tend to keep my trucks a long time. My GMC Sierra SLT was 17 years old when I handed it over to my son. I had the extended warranty on it and I think I used it twice at the dealers.
