Im loving the gas mileage right now, only had the truck about a month, it’s at 25.1 mpg the last 1000 miles. 620 miles on a tank of gas. Awesome job Mopar engineers! (3.6l etorque)

Prepare for the haters. The guys that have to beat everyone off the line at a green light will soon be here telling you its impossible to get better than 20 mpg. Mine's never been as good as yours, since it's a V8, but I am happy with it.

Great MPG's! I've been averaging out really good for such a big truck. It's getting the same MPG's as my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 3.6L so I'm happy as heck.

I do a good bit of highway driving for sure, still driving one of my kids to sports. It’s what attracted me to the v6 Ram. I drive between 60 and 70. I’ve also been trying some things out, watching Current mpg. I noticed an improvement being behind someone in traffic versus open road. I also tried not filling the tank all the way, fuel is a good bit of weight and get plenty of range on 3/4 tank. These hybrids are much more sensitive to these changes than the v8s. Also Notice a small decline in night driving due to halogen bulbs I think. May go find some LED to draw less juice.

Understand completely, I don’t do much hauling or towing right now and kid in college so money savings (truck price and gas) is a priority at the moment.

I agree with you. When I was shopping for a truck, my intention was actually to get a Pentastar V6 because I dont tow much since i quit farming. I ended up with the hemi because this truck had more features, less mileage, and was about the same price. At least it has the 3.21 gears, which are better for highway mpg.

Good to see it's working out for you. I was able to get almost 22mpg on a trip once. I was mostly going 70+ with a tail wind.

Good work. My 21 non E torque Hemi/3.21 4x4 has been impressing me as well. I was fully prepared to average 15 mpg or less with as much towing as I do reading all the forums. So far my weakest tank has been 16.7 hand calc which was driving to work all week and towing a boat about 50 miles. Work commute is about 80 city 20 highway.

I drove from Wisconsin to my lake house in northern Indiana this last weekend. Conditions were no wind and clear around 60-65 temps. From my start point to end I ran between 55-70 all relatively flat with Cruise control on as much as possible. When I parked the meter said 24.8 (I’ve found it to read .3-.5 mpg optimistic).

I then hooked to my boat rig that weighs about 4000-4500 lbs and headed 125 miles home. 1/2 2 lane roads and 1/2 70 mph highway. When I re filled I calculated 17.5 for that tank!

Glad to see someone else is getting good numbers from a new DT.

That’s some good mileage...I’m at 22.7 +/- with the V8 E torque and 10,500 miles. But that’s based on around 70% highway.

years ago a friend got a new corvette I asked him what kind of MPG it got. his answer was "if you are worried about gas mileage you can't afford the car"
kind of the way I think about trucks.

I purchased a new demo 2020 Ram 1500 bighorn 3.6 321 gear 3 weeks ago. According to the dash fuel MPG I'm getting between 22-24 MPG. I've added some weight with a truck topper and a deck bed drawer system, and two shelving units with work supplies, additional 500 lb of weight.
Thanks for the info of not fillling the gas tank completely up. I will give it a try.

I went for a drive out through the country last weekend with my wife. I kept to reasonable speeds cruising back roads and got up to 15! Back to blazing down the highway at 80 to go to work and it is back to the normal 14.3. It's what I bought, built and expected. I just didn't see the cost doubling to fill the 33 gallon tank. Let's Go Brandon!

I know what you mean. I can get 25 at 55/60 loafing along on a steady diet of freeways, but around home I get 15/16 in a rural area.

I find this gives me the best mpg.

Accelerating like a grandpa makes it worse because I’ll make 5 instant mpg for 30 seconds, rather than 3 mpg for 5 seconds on a quick accel

I am interested to hear more about this. Do you flair into half throttle or do you go right after it from a stop? Do you have eTorque? I read something about eTorque assisting on initial roll out, so I am wondering the best way to maximize that effect. Have others also found that the half throttle method yields the best in town results?

As a refence point, i seem to be getting 12.5 MPG in town, and 14.5-15MPG highway ( but that is cruising around 75-80MPH)

I drove a couple 5.7 E torques and standard 5.7s when I was shopping. This may be purely conjecture but I always set my mpg meter on test drives. The non E torque seemed to average about 4 mpg better than the E torque in my drives. I was harder on the non E torque trucks since the sales guys didn’t go with me on that ride. Wasn’t beating on it but ran it harder on acceleration. Otherwise I’d get on the highway and set cruise for an exit or so.

I’d guess we need a pole or split up on fuelly of the E vs standard.
