I split the chrome off my door handles. I am painting them.
How do i remove the adhesive tape and caulk from the back (inside) of my door handles?

I have a snap-on tool called “the eraser” that is essentially a pneumatic angle grinder with a big rubber wheel that will remove adhesive without harming the surface underneath or leaving residue.

That being said, the residue is key in whatever you use. Be careful with whatever you use if it has petroleum products in it. That’s hard to get completely out if you’re going to apply paint. Before I used the eraser, I used 3m adhesive remover. It was in a can that looks like a can of mineral spirits and smelled horrendous. Worked great though.

Not sure if this will work on adhesives. It is sold in spray cans ($10) and gallon liquids. I used it to remove grease from wood kitchen cabinets a little at a time. It was also used to "clean up" oil based polyurethane covered wood floors. Good luck. I purchased it at an auto body paint shop.

That looks like it would work well

The citrus based goo gone is the ticket, followed by a degreaser to lift the citrus oils.
There are 2 versions of it. Avoid the acetone version, but the citrus version is safe on plastic. It does take longer but it’ll do the trick.

Goo-gone themselves say not to use it while prepping for paint.
