2022 Orders

Yeah, all of this build-up is for relocating all the marines off of Okinawa. They’re a couple years late on it, so now it’s a mad rush. The local Chamorran construction workforce is like 5,000 people, and the Navy estimates it will take 20,000+ to get all of this work done. That wasn’t really my concern (I can get people there), but feeding concrete, rebar, formwork, etc, to the island is the problem. The Navy has CRAZY liquidated damages because of the urgent nature of the work. And ultimately, the risk was greater than the reward.
I tried to get out there several times, but the Covid restrictions meant I would have had to spend two weeks in quarantine when I arrived. Couldn’t afford that kind of time away from my local operations. Even tried to get a waiver from the military, but they wouldn’t do it.
Oh well…their loss!
Last thing about Guam and I’m done. I recall that it was going to cost me about $10,000 to get each container load of equipment from the Central US out to the island (and to the jobsite). I’m curious to know how much got tacked on to your truck to get it out to Hawaii.

Will you be tracking actual production dates, actual shipment/delivery dates on the chart as well, once those become known? Even more of a logistical nightmare, but might make prediction better for the later orders? Doing so would also make it easier to see if they are clumping by color or feature or trim level, or whether it really is a first order in, first order out system. Absolutely, I’ll be tracking the builds. But the extent of what I’m tracking is VIN and trim. It would be impossible to track everyone by color, bed size, and options. But we’ll likely see some trends that help forecast the rest.
So as the builds start rolling out, I’ll start showing the patterns for each trim level.

For what it’s worth, I “might” be getting some tech help that would allow me to provide notifications on everyone’s build-sheet and window-sticker dates (as they are published by FCA). More to come on that. But in order to do that, I will need people’s’ FULL VIN (not just last 6 digits). If that materializes, I’ll ask everyone to PM me their numbers (if interested).

I want to caution everyone who is watching the Lookahead chart. This is all purely theoretical and idealistic. As with the 2021 deliveries, the actual production dates for each truck will vary wildly. Some of the early orders will languish in D1 for weeks, while some of the later orders will be built first thing. There are a ton of variables that we can’t see (even some that FCA can’t see). So take everything on it with a grain of salt.

I don't have anything to add tonight. Just happy to be here. I'm preparing for a December or January delivery date so if it doesn't come until then I won't be disappointed. As long as it gets built with all the options I ordered I'll be happy.

Actually I'd be content for a few weeks if Ram would update their website for 2022. I want to read the owner's manual. I'm glad we get Uconnect 5 and they added the configurable bar at the top. That will make it much more convenient to control heated steering wheel and heated/cooled seats too.

Hi all. New member here. Been following this thread while I waited on my registration email. @Eighty can you add me to the list? Ordered a Laramie on 8/3. Vin: 150536. Also wanted to mention i noticed Nada disabled the ability to choose options earlier today when pricing out a 2022. It's back up again now though. I think they may have updated some prices. I seem to remember the 12" display being much cheaper.

RE: nadaguides website building a 22' Ram. You guys were spot on. Built my build as ordered from MD and price came out to the penny. I did better than I thought when I looked at Invoice price. Still waiting for ramtrucks.com to update for 22'. Curious as to whether there will be a price increase when the website updates. Also, I don't have a trade (sold my truck over memorial day) I'm interested in hearing member stories about how your trade was handled. If you turn in your trade at delivery and delivery is so many weeks away, are you concerned you will get beat up with a new trade in value? Per Contract, you can walk away I think but how will you handle?

My dealer said they couldn't "trade" since there were going to be a few months. I'll try to hammer it out with the state. I handed over the key fobs the day I ordered the new truck.

I plan on using one of the online used car dealers (carvana, carmax, vroom) their offers are right in line with what dealers are asking and its far more convenient. This way, once the new truck is headed to mark dodge, ill be able to sell my truck and minimize needing to make loaner arrangements

Don't forget the sales tax aspect. If you trade in to the dealer you only pay sales tax on what's left over, which can be significant savings depending on tax rate and trade value.

True. But we intend on flying into lake charles. Driving the current truck 2000+ miles to get it down there would add another 2.5 days to our trip and we dont want to be road fatigued before we get to drive the new truck.

I’m doing the same as @Hasti17. I will probably fly or drive existing truck the 667 miles. I want to inspect and take delivery at the dealership just in case something isn't quite right. Also don’t want any transport issues/damage…..And then there’s the cost of shipping.

Just an update for some new additions (@wintaborn, @Hillbilly2, @Vakali72, @Daveb). Still no changes to the assumptions on production. Although I'm a little perplexed that we're not hearing of anyone going into D1 status. We're only 2 weeks away from the (theoretical) start of 2022 production.
