Truck caps are expensive!

So, many moons ago, almost 20 years ago now, I used to have an 02 2500 ext cab, 6 foot box with a leer cap. I absolutely loved that truck for many reasons, one being that cap.

Journey to today... now I'm buying the old man's 19 1500 and am looking into another leer cap, and the damn things are 2500 bucks! In fairness that's with roof rails which is roughly an extra 200 bucks. But damn. I thought they were only like a grand!

I'm ignorant to any other brands out there... anyone else have a cheaper option that would fit on a 5'7" bed, in delmonico red? I dont even know if the price quoted includes a color match or not... im in the metro Detroit area as well if that helps..

Yes, they are not cheap. I picked up my Leer 100XL for $2199 plus tax back in January 2021. With prices increasing across the board for almost everything, I can see how truck caps could suffer the same fate.

Lakeland are a little cheaper. Raider are a little less expensive Leer, basically. Not sure about Century.

Just got a leer 100R for 1900 installed. free headliner upgrade. Keystone truck caps in pa. Sliding windows with screen and front slider.

ARE is similar price for a basic fiberglass cap. If you want it color matched and good quality you'll have to pay over$2,000. Much less and you'll be getting low quality or a used cap that likely won't match color or fit exact.

I got my LEER Model 122 with Large Side Windoors for $2700 at the LEER
outlet store in Milton PA. This included the Headliner, Color Match, and Installation.
Local Dealer wanted $3500 for it. I was already going to be traveling past that way
when I was driving down south for the Holidays.

At Normal Ride Height it is 90" tall at the rear of the Cap.

They have three locations. See if one is Closer to you.

I am thinking of heading up your way in September to get the GDE tune
for my 2021 Laramie Ecodiesel on my way to Lee's Summit MO.

I should have my 72 Gallon Aux Fuel Tank finished by then too.

Never heard of them, but they're only 25 miles away from me. How long ya trying to travel with a 72 gallon tank? Trying to do dual 33's with a connector holding roughly 6 gallons? Or is it just one massive tank

The 72 Gal AUX tank is in addition to the 33 Stock one. 105 total.
At 29 MPG that is a 3045 mile range. If the tune gets me 1-2 Mpg more,
plus extra HP and Torque, only makes it better.

Ah, with minor research I see that you're most likely running it in your bed... a toolbox style tank. For some reason I was thinking it was still mounted under the truck body

I still have a small amount of FAB work on the mounting Brackets and
the Filler Neck mounting Ring. Then it will go to a Friend that is a Welder.
All up, I will probably be in for $1K. I will start a Install thread when it gets
Welded. I have some of the In process Pix for the Thread.

I did the Same for My Big Horn Hemi by using the bottom 8" of the Bed
Tool Box. Which added 36 Gallons to the 26 Gallon Stock Tank. This ran me
about $500 to do. I am getting about 950 mile Range with it.

I've seen that thread. I'm on my local fire department and was debating if I wanted to wire my lights and siren up there. My town is only 2 square miles, so most guys don't run lights or siren because it's not really needed.... thats my debate right now. And other than reverse lights, I currently don't have any other auxiliary anything... yet... looks like a great setup you got there though!
