Hey there.

I recently purchased some under dash color changing led foot well lighting. These plug into the USB in the front of the ram. I'm very confused as to why when I turn the truck off, lock it and walk away that they still stay on and never turn off? Is their a way to fix this? Why is the USB always on?

I have a thumb drive in there for my MP3 Music Files and I noticed
that when I turn off the truck the light on the USB is still lit too.

I actually prefer that they stay powered when the truck's not on. Useful for charging phones, etc when you're not driving. I've had vehicles that did not stay powered and often wished they had.

I believe you can swap the fuse over to a different slot so that the usb isn't running straight off of the battery 24/7. I think it's the same for the 12v power outlet too..

The USBs on the center console stay live for 1 hour after ignition is turned off. It's a convenience feature so you can keep charging a cell phone left plugged in, like say you go for lunch or something.

After 1 hour, those USB shut off and will not turn on again until you turn on the accessories, after that, they start the 1 hour cycle again.

The 12V outlet on the top center dash turns off after 30 seconds of turning off the truck or if you open the door right after you turn off the ignition.

I'm not sure about the the USB in the center armrest or the rear USBs for passengers, they either shut-off right away or could also be on the 1 hour cycle..

My phone continues to charge when the truck is turned off. I'm thinking it is 'hot' all the time.

Thanks! I was wondering about that, I like the 1 hour and then off. Especially on those days when the wife wants to go to Target or such and I just hang out in the truck. I was keeping the ignition turned on to accessory to keep the phone charging.

12v is live all of the time unless you change the fuse location. Seen in another thread, I had to do it, I kept forgetting to unplug the radar detector.

Fuse box under steering wheel column. I might just be thinking of the 12V outlet but it might work for the USB outlets too. have to check the fuse diagram, I can't remember which ports or fuses...

I can't find anything about the power off delay for the USB but here are the fuse locations. You can check to see if there is an optional position for them:

You mean the 12V on top of the dash? Mine powers off anytime the ignition is off and I have my dash cam attached to it.

If you mean the same 12V, then maybe it's different regarding the packages we have? Because once I turn off the ignition and open the door, the 12V on the top center dash is off.

In fact, recently I thought it was broken because my dash cam wouldn't turn on after I did a remote start. I realized after a few moments I didn't press the ignition button yet (even though the truck was running) and then it powered my cam on.

You can change that by swapping the fuse to the F54 slot. Mines always active now. The F54 slot is battery fed.

Yes, that is the one, as stated above I had to switch the fuse. A few times I went into the garage and seen the detector lit up before I touched the door. never shuts off until the battery is drained without the mentioned fuse position change. I can see by your trim you have the fancy version, mine is just a bighorn level 2.

Gotcha, that makes sense. Though I wouldn't call the Rebel fancy, but maybe the options I have results in a difference in how that 12V reacts.
