I was driving at night up a dark windy road this weekend and noticed that when i turn either direction at X point some sort of extra light comes the front / headlights area on that further illuminates the side of the road, then shuts off when the steering wheel is X point straightened out again.

i tried to search for it and dont even know what its doing or what to call it. im driving so i cant see what its doing heh...

anyone? bhuller?

The fog light turns on the side you are turning to to illuminate the road in the direction your are turning. It's a European feature but I find it very helpful.

Check your settings on the screen. You can turn on/off the adaptive lights.

big big help. was on a mountain switchback road and theres no moon this past weekend it was damn dark as the inside of your pocket.

The fog light doubles as a cornering light. I hate it. It gets bright all the sudden just as you're turning and you think some car just appeared out of nowhere. The easiest fix is to just turn the fog lights on. Then they stay on the whole time, whether or not you're turning.

As noted above, if your fog lights are off, the appropriate fog light will light up as you turn.

Not sure it's a European thing. It used to be more of a higher trim level feature, but seems to be more mainstream now. My '86 Mercury Cougar had cornering lights. I really liked them because I lived on an unlit country road, and it helped me to find my driveway easier LOL. I keep my fogs on all the time on my trucks, so I don't notice that feature anymore.

Cornering lights were introduced by Cadillac in 1962, so you're right...it wasn't a "European thing". Like you, I keep my fogs on all the time anyway.
