After a 1,000 miles here is my opinion of the Ram 1500!
Lets start why I bought the Ram. High on my list was the side cargo boxes and the split tail gate. Reason was that we would be towing a Vintage Airstream and having ease of access to the towing gear is winner.
  • What I like
  • The ride...as good as my wife's Avalon
  • Engine intake and exhaust noise under full throttle
  • Interior
  • Digital mirrior
  • Plenty of small storage places.
  • Love the way you can customize the center gauge area.
  • Love the "too "much information that you can get in the U-connect console screen. Sometimes it takes me days to figure out what I did. LOL

  • What I do not like
  • Coming from a Honda Ridgeline...the Ram is a big truck. Still getting use to turns and backing up in tight places.
  • Radio set up...turn it off and the screen goes off. Whats that all about?
  • Trailer mirrors ...really big! After the fact most likely did not need them.
  • Lights. No total off unless the car is off. Really?
  • Heavy tail gate to close..need power gate. Thats why split gate was important.
  • My opinion only...I like a dead mans pedal.
  • Waste of money...heads up display.
  • Trailer Back up steering...so far it is more of a hassle to set up. When working I like it.
  • Gas mileage...first 1,000 only 13.2/mpg. Now I do believe that this was due to a lot of idling (8 hours). So far after a reset I am now at 15.3/mpg
Overall quality is 9+. No issues at all. The reason for 9+ and not 10. I think the paint job only good. Maybe it is the silver color, but I can see spray lines? on both sides of the truck . Checked out other Rams same color same problem. Come to think of it my friends silver suburban same thing.
From my short experience I would recommend the Ram...Get thumbs up all the time.

You can turn the headlights off in the daytime through the Uconnect menu
Are you talking about the radio going off after you turn the truck off you can adjust that in the Uconnect menu too
Deadmans pedal, yeah
Tailgate is light as hell, close a 3rd gen. You even lift bro?😆
Heads-up, agree.

Just ticked over 1000 miles on mine.
Agree that the HUD is pretty useless. Neat feature, but not something I'm used to looking for. If it was higher up, maybe, but it's pretty low for me.

It's adjustable push the right arrow on the wheel when you reach settings. I like the feature. Wish I could add my mpg on it.

I love the HUD. MPG on it would be nice.

I’m at about 600 miles currently. Some of our observations are the same... All of the things you like are right in line with me.

Funny about the tow mirrors. I haven’t towed with it yet (just 3 weeks old) but the mirrors are HUGE. I probably could have gotten away with the normal mirrors. I also haven’t had a chance to try the trailer back up yet.. I’ll weigh in on that later :)

Need to play with it more, but thought I had it up all the way already. Maybe I don't.

The setting for myself personally is at 1 the lowest possible. The way I sit gives me a clear look at it. Now I do wish the scope of vision of the HUD was wider. I like to lean on the arm rest and while I'm leaning half of the Hud isn't visible.

Played with mine this evening. If I go higher than 3 the top of the numbers get cut off.

Have 322 so far on mine. Had a lot of idle hours in the beginning also so after a reset I'm about 14 just around town and get about 16 mixed with highway. When I first bought it it seemed that the exhaust was super quiet, but now is a little more pronounced. Is that normal? Does it get louder as more miles stack up? So far I couldn't be hapier.

I actually think the HUD is a great feature. Better dash and 3rd brake lite is led with camera to see when you have a tonneau cover folded up.

I have one on my current SUV and love it. So I had to special order a Ltd Longhorn to get it. Dealers don't order this option for their stock.

Unless you can tell me exactly how to I beg to differ with you on turning off the all the lights. There is no such setting in UC. You can turn off the daylight running lights but there is no setting for all lights off. What I meant on the radio is when driving if you turn off the radio the screen goes dark. So the alternative is to mute the sound or to turn the sound down.
Just my opinion but if you think that tail gate is light then I am really a 98# weakling. LOL

Interesting on the split of the heads up...one man's treasure...another man's Junk.

Lift? What's that? :ROFLMAO:
He was talking about the MFT. It's quite a bit heavier, and definitely takes more effort to close compared to the regular tailgate.

I LOVE the HUD.
Use it all the time.

Also the tech package is dope. I got it for the digital mirror, not so much the heads up display.
Definitely worth the buy.

If you're tall, you actually need to move it down to get it bright and crisp. Not up.
