Steering Wheel Leather

I'm picking up a ton of nicks on my steering wheel. Caught the edge of it this morning with my thumbnail and it sliced a quarter inch gash (I have super short fingernails). Anyone else having this problem or am I just rough on steering wheels? Haven't had any issues with other vehicles so far....

Nails and ring left many marks on my previous vehicle over the 7 years I had it

7 months of the ram and its no issue (yet)

I can't even visualize how you could cut the leather steering wheel cover with your thumb nail. Kind of the same thing for leaving nicks or other marks. Maybe there's something inferior about the leather cover on the Big Horn steering wheel? I noticed a difference in the quality of the leather steering wheel covers between my original Laramie steering wheel, and the Longhorn steering wheel I replaced it with.

My Laramie is fine after 29 months, but I don't wear a ring of any type.

I noticed my neighbor's one year-old Lincoln's leather steering wheel is pretty rough, but she wears a couple of rings.

It's not a robust as my Jeep was or even my older WRX. It feels thin for lack of a better term

2.5 years. No issues whatsoever. I trim my nails weekly though
