So a friend help me put on the skid plates today. The front two were fairly straight forward. The bolts came with one skid plate but not the other two skid plates. You do not have to drop the fuel tank to put on the fuel tank skid plate (the dealership I bought my parts mentioned that I might have to do that). I would have had a difficult time by myself (I am not that mechanically inclined and there were no instructions) but my friend knew how it went on quickly and then we went to Ace hardware to buy bolts washers and we used three u nuts for the fuel tank skid plate. There is one lip on the outside middle way down the plate that has a screw size hole but I don’t know if I am missing another piece or not.

I am looking to put on the skid plate for the 26 gallon fuel tank. Will I need to drop the tank to put on the skid plate?
No. You wont need to remove the fuel tank. I installed mine myself with no issues.

Hi Chuck,

Like you, for a little while now I've had all of the skid Plates under my truck. When I installed the fuel tank skid, I felt like the front was fairly unsupported but didn't think too much of it because the part numbers I ordered were provided by the Mopar website I ordered from.

Going down a mild dirt road yesterday I occasionally heard a decent amount of vibration and am almost positive it's the front of that plate.

Did you only install the bracket in the rear as well? I haven't been able to find out if something is missing but am doing more research now. In every drawing I do see those two crossmembers under there, but I'm not sure what they are for and they also don't really look like they are fastening to the front.

I just bought a 2019 Bighorn and it doesn’t have skid plates, I’m assuming since it isn’t the off road package. Has anyone put these on by themselves and have the parts numbers handy? Or would it just be easier to go to the dealer and have them do it? Thanks.
Do need a separate bracket not included with the fuel tank skid plate to install

Did you ever find out about all the brackets, I'm having trouble finding out exactly what parts I need

**UPDATED** 2-22-23

I spent a little too much time researching the parts for the skid plate for the 33 gallon tank, so I thought I'd share here, including hardware alternatives at Menards (or any home improvement store).

Fair disclaimer, my parts haven't shown up yet, but I'll update this post if I find that anything is incorrect.

Link to schematic with part numbers: Fuel Tank for 2022 Ram 1500 | My Mopar Parts

Mopar Skid Plate for 33 gallon tank: 52029964AD
Mopar Skid plate bracket: 68303523AB

Mounting hardware:
Hex nut and washer (#19): 68065741AA
Quantity: 3
Nut size/pitch: M8x1.25 (with flange)
Alternative flange nut at Menards: https://www.menards.com/main/hardwa...-nut-1-count/87273/p-1444440161335-c-8913.htm
M8 washers: https://www.menards.com/main/hardwa...flat-washers/82585/p-1444440047422-c-8945.htm

Hex nut and washer (#17): 6104726AA
Quantity: 1
Nut size/pitch: M8x1.25 (no flange)
Alternative nut at Menards: https://www.menards.com/main/hardwa...712-c-8915.htm?tid=5178697835050740829&ipos=3
Add an M8 washer from above.
Or, just get another M8 flange nut.

Hex head bolt (#20): 6104390AA
Quantity: 1
Bolt size/pitch: M8x1.25 x 35mm long
Alternative bolt at Menards: https://www.menards.com/main/hardwa...flange-bolts/87278/p-1444440179543-c-8737.htm

Hex flange lock nut and retainer (#21): 06512090AA
Quantity: 1
Nut size/pitch: M8x1.25
Alternatives at Menards, either this nylon lock nut: https://www.menards.com/main/hardwa...697-c-8919.htm?tid=9154254128397457038&ipos=5
or top lock nut: https://www.menards.com/main/hardwa...805-c-8919.htm?tid=9154254128397457038&ipos=1
**note, neither of these alternatives have a flange, and it looks like the OEM nut has a flange. You could just use the nut with a washer or get the OEM nut, YMMV.

Edit: you can get all the hardware from Belmetric. Here is my cart (I added some extra quantities...there is a $5 order minimum; use promo code FREEGAUGE21 for a free nut gauge):

sorry it's been a long time but may i know how you bolted the bracket since the nuts are inside the frame
