Hello everyone,

This is mainly targeted to those who have worked at a dealership or know the business well.
So I am at the point of trading in my 2020 Bighorn v6 2WD with another BigHorn Hemi 4WD that I got at a CDRJ dealership. I am not going into sales number or what I paid for my current truck as its not the main point. The main point is I found a Ram 1500 CrewCab 4WD (Night Edition) that I love and that I am willing to trade in. Now keep in mind that I am dealing with the same dealership that I originally purchased the 2WD from as they have been pretty awesome folks. That same dealership has the 4WD (NE) Ram that I want / interested in but at a different location/lot. Same owner/dealership just different location. So far I have been shooting emails to the sales man that I originally purchased the 2WD from. So I am inquiring about the 4WD(NE) and giving him specifics on my truck as the trade in. He comes back to show me a different 4WD he is recommending that is on the lot the he is physically at. I look at it online and see that its missing options comparing to the one I inquired about. I reply back with another 4WD (with off road group) that is on the physical lot he is at but still is pushing for the one he is recommending.

Now before all the "Go get a different salesman" or "Go to a different dealership" comments start rolling in, my question is, are there specific vehicles at lots that each salesman is tied to or get bonuses for selling? I am asking because it seems that the salesman was more interested in selling one specific truck at the lot he is physically at than the one I am interested in. I would be more interested in making a sale to be honest. These trucks are brand new as well being MY 2020.

Any insight to this would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, typically if there is an aged unit on the lot, management sometimes adds "spiffs" or a bonus on top of selling the unit. Possibly what is happening. Just keep politely pushing for the exact one you want and if the salesperson does not get the hint, call the other dealership, or ask for someone else. they should be able to pull the one you want from their sister store, unless the two different store managers hate each other (that happens).
