Hey everyone,

I have a 2019 RAM 1500 Big Horn. Looking at a lift. My thoughts were the 6" BDS with the upgraded fox on Toyo 35x12.5R18's. I hunt and drive though pretty gnarly stuff. I guess my questions are am I picking a good lift, are the tires the right size (I wanted more tire and smaller wheels so I have more sidewall), and also, what kind of offset should I do considering the trails I drive down. Anybody have a similar setup? Hard to find pictures.

I would suggest looking through custom offsets.com they have a ton of pics in the gallery. You can search by vehicle, lift, tire, and wheel combos.

I think that's a solid choice. BDS makes a great lift and I'm with you on the 18" tire for more rubber. Only thing you have to watch out for is the tires. I wouldn't go any higher than a 10 ply tire or they'll ride like junk. I just did a 6" Zone in mine to save a few bucks over BDS (they're a BDS sister company) and I went with 20s instead of 18s. My hunting property is pretty tame and there's a better selection of 20 inch wheels out there.

Doesn’t seem that you can go wrong with that combo but check with BDS website to ensure you can do a 18” wheel tire combo. My offset is -19 on an 20x10 wheel..

I have a 6" BDS lift with a 2" body lift with 37"× 13.5" on 20x10 wheels..feels like a stock ride with great clearance on my 19 longhorn

BDS is a very reputable company and the kit is made even better with the Fox shocks valved for the truck and amount of lift. If you want more sidewall you can actually fit a 37x12.50 tire. (I run that tire on my 2020 Rebel). Remember the larger tire you go and especially on a larger wheel (20") the heavier the combination. This will effect overall motor performance and fuel mileage if that is important to you.
BDS replaces the factory steering knuckles with their own so their website recommends no more than 5" of wheel backspacing with a 12.50" wide tire.
This translates to roughly a 0 offset depending on the width of the wheel. Most aftermarket wheels depending on brand come in offsets of +18, +12, 0, -12. You just need to decide what "look" you're going for...tires barely extending past the wheel wells or wide stance.
Make sure you confirm the 18" wheels you pick will fit over the front calipers. Example: Method 18s "0" offset fit without issue, but Black Rhino 18s "+12" offset require minor grinding on the calipers to fit.

I was looking at the Mopar 3" kit originally, but since I have a Quad Cab and NOT a Crew Cab, Mopar is telling me that it will not work. So yesterday, after talking to a local custom shop and being turned on to BDS, then talking to BDS directly, doing some research and watching some videos, I believe that I am 95% sure that in 3 weeks I am going to pull the trigger on the BDS 4" suspension lift for my 2019. The more I read and watch, the more I like and am psyched to go with the BDS option. I want 3-4" of lift and KEEP my factory ride and from what I can see the BDS kit keeps all the factory geometry AND keeps a factory ride. Win Win!

Well then welcome in three weeks to the BDS lift club. Please post photos when it’s actually completed as well as wheel and tire specs. :)

PorBoy I see that you also have the HellWig Rear Sway Bar. I hear good things. What's you take, I'm sure you may have already posted it somewhere, I'll search. I was thinking about adding that as well while they were right there installing the lift. Also, I was trying to decide on which rims to use, the 20's I have in the signature photo as I like the black look, or go with my factory original 22's. Either way I was leaning 33" tires, but may go 35's and go Nitto's. Any input there as far as size?

I LOVE what the Hellwig brings to the table. Just make sure that you get the one for the 4” plus lifts. According to BDS I needed 5” of back spacing so I’m running 20x10 -19 offset Fuel wheels. I’m not saying that’s the only offset you can run, I just didn’t want any issues. Also I’m on 35x12.50 Nitto G2 as I wanted / needed a smoother ride.
