So about 2 weeks ago i installed the Borla s type cat back exhaust and was shocked how loud it was. Sounded great and evefybody loved it but just to much for a daily driver. So after a bunch of research on what to do to make it quieter. I talked with Borla and they said to just install their over priced resonator. I talked with other people on forums and they said the same. One person did mention to install a larger resonator (longer and wider). So today I installed a Magnaflow 18" resonator I ordered online for half the price of the Borla one.
Huge..... huge difference!! Exactly what I wanted. Sounds amazing. Little louder than stock on highway and backroads, good growl taking off and mean when hard acceleration. I would highly recommend it if you think your system is to loud.

I'm just writing this because it was hard as hell for me to research this. So I figured other people would want to know.

I'll post videos tomorrow if i can. Wanted to wait till the morning to gdt a true cold start

Thanks for sharing. Please also share the Magnaflow part number. Cheers!

Glad to hear you're happy with it now. I'm very glad I didn't decide to follow my initial reaction and take the S-Type off. It's exactly the sound I was wanting now.

I seen a post of another member that did the same thing, but used the 14 inch. 12619 is the 14 inch, 12649 is the 18 inch, and you will need a couple Lap Joint Band Clamps

If you could redo the purchase would you have gotten the touring exhaust instead of the atak? I live in a quiet community and I want my 2019 to have a growl but as a daily driver nothing that would be too loud.

It doesn't sound like any of the Borla cat-backs are for you. They're all pretty loud, and if you're just wanting a rumble, I don't even think you'll be happy with the Touring.

Well I'm about to find out , I'll be doing mine Monday or Tuesday. If it's too loud, I'll add the Magnaflow resonator

I added the Borla resonator to my S-Type and I'm very happy with it now. I found the resonator for a bit less than what Borla is asking for it. Hopefully yours is what you want. If it's going to be close to what the S-Type with the resonator than it should sound great. It definitely won't be a mild system still, but I love it.

I don't have to worry about neighbors too much, we all have 3 acres in our subdivision. I just don't want it too loud in the cab. I'm itching to find out though, LOL

I've had the Touring system for about a week and a half, it does let you know its a Hemi ! At first I was Like Oh S**T! Our stock systems are so quiet it did take a couple of days for me to grow accustomed to the "new" tone. At this point I like it and appreciate how well mannered it is. If you stomp on it it stomps back, if just cruising its purrs right along with you. To each his own, but I like the Touring. I will say I am glad I didn't go S-type or ATAK. JMO

Any chance on getting a video or sound clip of the touring. Im torn between that or just a muffler swap.

For those who installed this yourself, how hard was getting the muffler out? I'll be doing mine on jack stands and don't want to cut the driver side if I can snake it out.
Thanks

What do you mean hard to research? There are TONS of threads on this forum about the Borla cat back options. I’m unsure how you were surprised the s-type is loud. It’s well documented that the atak and s type are loud.
At any rate, I’m glad you found a solution you are happy with. I’m assuming the Magnaflow resonator is a weld on? I think one of the reasons the Borla one is more expensive is because it’s kind of plug and play with clamps

You can clamp the Magnaflow with lap joint band clamps, I think it's cheaper because it's not 304 stainless like the Borla
