Been talking to Linkswell again and it seems they are close to a release in a few months. I was emailed a picture of the prototype and given an initial cost of about $1200.

It does give the options to do anything like you would with a normal tablet with a hotspot enabled. Plus integrates all the oem stuff like cameras car play and android auto.
