Paw prints in my engine bay and I believe it likes the top of the actual engine so I can not see it, just started. Any recommendations to deter/stop cat "house keeping". Moth balls for mice - I've been told.

I imagine pepper spray lightly on the underbody could help around the cold spots.

I would make sure not to spray any hot spots like the exhaust. Avoid air and ac intake. Theb for caution i would top down wash(no undercarrige) and drive it with ac off for at least a full heat up/cooldown cycle.

Warn your mechanic. Wear gloves while servicing.

Or find a less awful smell cats cant stand.

Napthala - moth balls, are poison. Pepper spray will just make you wish you were dead.

Ammonia may get a desired easily washed off result. Really think of respiratory irritants but not outright poison.

Try even applying whatever you do rearward of the hood line. Anything to make sure you dont pull in a hot load of pepper into the passenger cabin air intake. Pepper spray dilute your driveway?

Thanks for the tips. Not looking to harm them. Neighbor already did one in starting the car.
There is a tough momma cat that gets knocked up around my house. 2 liters so far in the neighborhood. Had one cat crying all night. Investigation - one of the kittens went into the opening of of my backyard drywell drain. Fortunate for the kitten it did not go far and stayed in the drain line (bottom of drywell 15-17 feet down) and I was the installer of the PVC lines so I knew where to go dig. Sunday digging, disconnecting some lines and the kitten came out - about the size of large man's hand. Monday spent putting it back together.

I have cats, therefore I also have cat paw prints all over my truck, it's frustrating, especially after detailing it.
Looking for a solution as well...

I once had a chicken roost on an inner front wing and lay eggs, was quite a surprise when I opened the bonnet.
If you park on a drive would a couple of strategically placed ultrasonic cat deterrents work?
I've been wondering about them as I've recently had one thats scratched the roof of my car :(
PS. I love cats.

I’ve had great success with moth balls, cats hate them
