So I test drove this truck yesterday. Took it around a loop from the dealership to my office (so my business partner with a 2015 F150 Platinum could check it out) to my wife's office (gotta make sure she likes it too!) and back to the dealership. Probably around 15-20 miles total. This truck had a lot of items on my checkbox and I'm determining whether to buy a gently used 2018-2019 or lease a new 2020 as I change vehicles often and drive 10-15k miles per year at most.

Here is the link to the truck: https://www.dodgelandofcolumbia.com/vehicles/2019-ram-1500-limited-919133a-1c6srfht6kn711571
Window Sticker: http://window-sticker-services.pse.dealer.com/windowsticker/ram?vin=1C6SRFHT6KN711571

In speaking to the sales manager they will only drop about $500 from the online price ($51,139.00). I think this is high and it should probably be around $48K with their cost probably around $46K.

It has the dreaded rambox warp on one side so that would have to be fixed.

Items I would have changed if I could would be the frost interior, not 22 inch rims, and I would have preferred the 33 gallon tank.

I built up a similar 2020 build that MSRP is $66,670.00. Dealer out of NC has given me a price of $59,365.00 before any incentives or fees.

So this 2019 would be about $10K less but would be one year older and has 10K miles on it already. It does have the Ram Certified 7 year/100K power train which also adds another 3 months/3K miles to the bumper to bumper and I would most likely get the 7 year/100K extended warranty for another $1700.00 from an online site.

Need some guidance guys! Thanks!

I personally don’t think the price is bad. Maybe if you can get it closer to 50k. I doubt you will get it for 48. All that said, IMO it’s a lot of money for a truck that isn’t exactly what you want. When spending that kind of money you should be over the moon happy. Exactly color, options etc. That said if it’s close enough and you are sure you will be happy and can save a bunch of dough, win-win.
One other thing I would be curious about is why someone flipped their truck with only 10k. There could be several legit reasons. There could also be water leaks and several other issues that have plagued some members in their 2019’s (I am not one of them). Ask the dealer (maybe even a diff dealer) if they can run the vin and give you a pro out of all services and issues that were performed on the truck. If you see any of the major complaints listed, take a pass.

$50k isn't bad for a Limited. I personally would not have bought a truck with the Frost/Indigo Interior, but that is a matter of personal preference. I like the 22" Wheels, but of course this adds to the cost of tires...which it doesn't sound like you'll need very often. I most definitely wish they could have found a Limited with the 33 gallon tank when I bought, but not a deal breaker...now I am just at the station to fill up more often...I drive 60+ miles per day. That all being said, when I bought my Limited with essentially all the same options this truck has I paid approx $48.5k OTD after an $8k trade equity and $1875 less on taxes due to trade in. This also included an extended warranty priced around $1400 from MOPAR. MSRP on my truck was $67,795. I purchased during the 15% off MSRP and received additional dealer incentives of approx $5-6k.

Sorry if I lost you up there...just typing away. It seems like a pretty decent deal considering the current incentives available, but the question then becomes whether this will be a truck that essentially forces you to trade soon, or the truck of your dreams.

Personally I was only willing to budge on the 33 gallon tank option...all others were must haves. I'm glad I got exactly what I wanted and hope it keeps me from trading after 1-4 years like all my past vehicles.

I think you're within $1k of your estimate (that their cost at $46k and that you should get it for $48k)

Make sure cold air doesn’t come out of the windshield defrost when you’re in normal vent mode. Causes windshield to fog in an environment that has higher humidity and not only is it annoying but is a distraction. I’ve posted about this on this forum and there seems to be many people experiencing the same thing.

It's tough to see something so close to my ideal pickup and not want to pull the trigger quick. However, I would want to know why it's on the lot so soon. It looks like 1 owner. At what mile count did the owner buy it - ie was it a dealer demo? A rental? Which state was it registered in? Was it in a flood? I didn't see anything saying clean title. Was it a trade-in lemon? And gawd forbid you live in a warm climate and the a/c performs awful like so many new body 1500s. And for the record, a "certified ram" might not mean much if FCA isn't even standing behind new pickups.

I’d differ and say don't spend $50 on a truck you don't really think ticks the boxes. Notwithstanding the other question of why it was traded off (could be a harmless reason), I’d keep looking for what you want. Just my opinion but you’ll end up with buyers remorse.

So the website link has a carfax link you can check some of these questions on.

In the test drive the AC was adequate. Not as good as my Mustang GT but then again it has a much larger area to keep cool. I live in SC so triple digit temps with high humidity happen regularly in the summer.

According to the sales manger it was a trade back due to the customer not being able to afford it and they traded down to a much lower priced vehicle. I would take what any sales person says with as much worth as most politicians. :)

I do appreciate all the responses. This vehicle being in my backyard and available is the biggest reason for desire. It has a LOT of what I would want. However I believe I can wait and find one the way I want it or possibly order one under a lease with what I want. I have not seen a Limited with the Indigo/Frost in person yet and I think I am leaning towards the Longhorn with the saddle/black depending on what that looks like in person.

i bought a 67.5k MSRP Ram Limited brand new for $50k+TTL (no trade or anything) during that 15% off MSRP sale in June, but this one does get that extended warranty.

June was an anomaly. (y)

Best you get currently on a 2020 is 11% below invoice + incentives which for the one I am looking at is $59K + incentives and fees.

Don't get it if you don't love it. For me if the interior is not what you want you'll rgeret it everyday you get in. Also the 33 gallon tank is a huge bonus. Be patient and find one you really want.

So to circle back on this. If the price was dropped to $46.7K does that change anyone's opinions?

Mostly it is my impatience for a new truck I am sure but for that price I could probably get over the black interior, lack of 33 gallon fuel tank, and the 22 inch rims (which I could trade out for 20s with someone easily I assume?).

100% agree. Be willing to drive or fly somewhere. The Idaho dealer often has good prices, what is it, Dillon?
