Power running boards motor?

I tried to search the topic, but couldn’t find anything relating to this issue.

Yesterday the dealer installed power running boards on my new 1500. They work as they should, however when I open the doors the sound of what I assume is the motor is pretty loud.

I’m curious if this is normal, or maybe something wasn’t done properly. When I test drove a limited, there was no sound when the running boards came out.

To those of you who have them, or experience with them. Are they quiet?

mine sound as to be expected, i can hear them but its not loud, i wasnt sure i would like power boards but it is one feature i love, especially since you can leave them extended when parked to help prevent door dings from jerkoffs

Thanks for the response, I have had a number of issues with the dealer so maybe I’m just being biased.

i have them too , sound is normal but if u can post a vid we will know if yours is normal sound or not or u can go to the dealer and check another ram running boards how they sound

Mine are factory installed. I can hear them deploy and stow. The sound doesn't bother me, but is noticeable. They are not "loud" but they are also not quiet. I am betting yours are fine.

i would think if they were any quieter they wouldnt be build as well but they are built well

I installed the AMP steps - they also make noise when deploying and stowing, but nothing crazy. I also can hear / feel them stow when I shut the door. Most likely your are acting normal.

Mine are factory too (but I would have gone with the AMPs otherwise -- much more beefier and they have LEDs over where people can actually see to step).

Sounds like I'm in a space ship when I here them .. "ZZzhzhzhzhz .. bumpbump" .. Doesn't bother me, at least I know they have retracted and not stuck down LOL

Not sure if it is standard or not, but I can stow/deploy from my 8.4 NAV system. Helps when a first time person is going to get in so I don't have to yell, "WATCH YOUR SHINS!" as they open the door.
