torn between 285/65/20 or 285/60/20

Hey there!

I'm new to the forum, love the details and pictures the members post of their setup! However, looking for opinion. I know that is not much of a difference between the two tires besides sidewall height. one is nearly a 34" tire, other is shy of a 35".

Looking at Falken Wildpeak AT3w tires and will use stock Laramie 20" wheel for now. Eventually looking to goto. Fuel 20x9 with +14 or +1 offset. Unsure.... I'm naive with offset size. Do not want tire to stick out very far, if at all any. I believe +1 would be ideal.

Any suggestions for 285/60 or 285/65...

Truck is stock, no level-kit. But thinking of going to Mopar 2" lift kit that has the new shocks and mounts. The ready-lift kids I read hurt ride quality and without the newer control arm, will mess with tire angle.

I went with the SST Readylift lift/level on my 2wd. I have the Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT's 285/65's. Had them on stock wheels. Now on XD's 20x9 +0. I did both the lift and tires at the same time so I can't speak to the impact of each separately, but I think upgrading to the 10ply E rated tires from the factory 4 ply had the bigger impact on a little stiffer ride. Totally worth the tradeoff for me.

I'm leaning towards 285/60; but those 285/65 tires look pretty good.

Your stock wheels are +19 so a +14 offset will move the tire out 5 mm or 13/64" roughly. The 285 wildpeak will add another 5 mm of section width and because of the more aggressive side wall probably another 5-10mm so all in all a +14 will stick out somewhere around a 1/2" +/- more than the factory rim and tire set up. A +1 offset will add another 1/2" on top of that.

Laramie with a 18x9 fuel -12 offset and 33x12.50 tire. These stick out about 2" more than the factory setup. and are about flush with the edge of the factory fender flare.

Looks awesome! Can you post some pictures from the front also? Looking to go with a similar set up. Is this the 3.5 lift or the 2 in level?

I thought with higher negative off-set the tire will kick outside of fender more? I'm torn on +1 or +12 off-set wheel for 20x9 wheels with 295/60/r20 setup. I do not want tire to kick way out from fender, want as tucked as can be.

Use this tool: https://tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator/ It will show you exactly what you are dealing with. I was considering 295/60/R20 with a +10 or +12 20x9 wheel myself.

285/65-R20 on stock 20x9 rims. 2” level in front. No rubbing and the ride is great. Tires are BFG AT K02’s. Still searching for the perfect rims to add...

yep - have the factory painted fender flares on the Laramie w/ sport appearance package.

Because of the fender flares you'll be fine at +1 but if you want to keep them as tucked as possible go with the +14. +14 will also keep your scrub radius as close to stock as possible which will keep the steering feel and acceleration and braking dynamics pretty close to stock.

Has anyone installed 285/60 or 65/R20 on stock 20's, as seen in the picture, with the off-road group (1" lift) on their 1500 Laramie? Nitto Ridge Grapplers preferably. I am curious on how they look and if there are any issues?
