Scrapped the Aluminum Rim

So was travelling today and there was a wind storm here. Abruptly a pretty big tree limb came at me. I compensated to avoid it but in turn hit a side curb. It's minor thank god but still scrapped it up. Any ideas on repairing it?

It can be repaired by a specialist. I’ve had a rim repaired in the past (not my RAM). They actually filled it with bondo, sanded and repainted it. I brought mine back to the dealer. They had a third party specialist that would come in once a week and fix all the scraped rims. Once it was repaired, I couldn’t tell the difference.

I too had a minor rub, take a dremel and very lightly take the roughness out of the rubbed area and blend it away at the leading edges. Finish it off with some polishing compound and it will disappear. If you have the Wheel and Tire protection, let them fix it, thats what you paid for.

Thanks for that. I did get the rim and tire warranty but called my dealer and they said it can only be replaced from road hazards. They said cosmetic or scrapped Rim is not covered

I have one that looks just like that [wife rubbed a curb]. I sent a pic of it to a wheel repair place in St. Louis. They told me i would have to leave it for 2 days and $150 to fix it. Just haven't got around to taking the wheel there yet.

I have the Mopar road hazard warranty as well is it states curb rash as one of the things it covers. Do you have the Mopar warranty?

I have a 2010 4Runner. All 4 wheels started deteriorating about 30 minutes after I bought it. I let it go and had them restored in 2016 (in Fairfax, Virginia). They cost $150 each with rebalancing. The specialist used a lathe which he programmed for the correct contour (not Bondo) and then sprayed the bare aluminum wheels with what he claimed was a superior clear coat. It's only now (3 years) starting to fail again. Somehow my 2000 F150 with similar wheels never had this problem when I traded it in 2018. The bottom line is if you have a turned wheel and it isn't painted, a specialist really can do wonders. I have no clue how my Longhorn's wheels are fabricated. They don't seem to have been turned or even polished much. What I'm saying is they are not up to the standard of the rest of the truck.

Funny you ask. I went for the paperwork today and it's not in the package from the dealer! So I've made a formal request for it as I recall signing it. I hope they aren't trying to pull a fast one on me here!
