2020 1500 options updates?

Anyone have any inside scoop on what and when FCA will release info on 2020 1500 trim options and packages? Maybe the NY Auto Show in April? I’m waiting for 2020 Rams to be able to order a Rebel or Bighorn with the Advanced Safety Group. That package is not available on the 2019 Big Horns or Rebels. But I have no knowledge if they’ll actually (and finally!) make that safety package available on all 2020 1500 trims (like they’ve done with the new HDs). If FCA would offer the 2019 Canada-only 1500 Sport trim in the US, that would solve my issue, and I’d order a truck today. It is essentially a Big Horn with the safety features available.

Curious about that too. Hoping they make the all-red interior in the Rebel optional, or offer other color schemes in addition, or the very least subdue the red a little bit. Too much red for my liking, and the Rebel12 (leather seats) has been discontinued.

There won't be a release like last year, the truck is not new anymore. If there are any significant changes, they will probably be announced closer to production switch over, which is somewhere around June or July, I believe.

Yes, riccnick, you are probably right. I actually wouldn't expect a need for any production switchover of 1500s from 2019's to 2020's. They'll be the same identical trucks, but with a 2020 VIN number. And there are no 'significant changes' needed either. But there is many, many of us still hoping they will at least broaden their current options and packages availability, by trim, which is not at all a significant change. And maybe they might even add the Sport trim for the US market, which again is not a significant change: they are already building that config for Canada.... and maybe they'll bring back the Rebel 12, if they can get their seat supplier forecasts and supply chain sorted-out. Any of that can be done with zero EC's (engineering changes). It'd be very easy for FCA and Ram NA to get a whole bunch of prospective customers across the buying finish-line (especially Ford and GM converts) simply by being less constrictive with options. I'm certain their build-to-order and build-to-plan logistics systems can handle the very slight increase in assembly line sequencing complexity. And I seriously doubt there would be any real effect on their sales and gross margins by trim level... other than to increase them!

I agree with you, but the reality of it is: All of the things you listed would be considered a significant change to a current production truck. I'm not even going to get into the chain of command I image an ECN would have to flow through to change trim level content and availability at Ram or FCA, as everything is a marketing based decision influenced by projections founded in intense customer research. No way in hell they're gonna go all willy nilly and just open up options on an assembly line that, lets face it, they don't have great control over already. I'm not saying it's impossible, in fact, I'm willing to bet that for 2020 we WILL see some trim content changes here and there, but, certainly not all of what's been suggested, and definitely not any a-la cart free for all options and trim combos. Oversimplifying the idea of how easy it is to change a production line for a vehicle that has hundreds of millions of possible configurations is the quickest way to be disappointed when the release hits. I also think people forget, Ram already offers 10x the features and content anyone else does, and we have a lot of features on our trucks that you can't even get in the entire lineup at other manufacturers. Ram shouldn't be adding any more **** to these trucks, they need to get their six sigma hats on in that plant and stop shipping out trucks with avoidable defects, and then (as far as I'm concerned) devote almost all of their engineering resources to getting Uconnect and other background programs that run the trucks to function properly. Then we can play mix and match if the market decides it's necessary.

Even though I will not even be getting my 19' Longhorn for another two weeks (dealer says ETA March 5th)...IF and when they offer a 426 Hemi, I will be trading ASAP :)

The Rebel 12 group is open for ordering as we speak. It was closed while the supplier issues were worked out but was never discontinued.

The new Rebel12 package (A25) does not include the leather seats nor the HK12 system. It's $2,000 instead of the original $2,995, which was the original Rebel12 package price. The new Rebel12 (A25), only gets you the 12" screen and the 9-speaker Alpine system. Leather seats and HK12 are no longer offered.

The Rebel 12A package (AZ6) which is what is currently available, DOES include the Lux Leather Trimmed Bucket Seats, however you are correct that it does not include the HK system, only the 9 speaker w/ Subwoofer system. Also it is $2495, not $2000...

I stand corrected on the price. But where did you get this list from? Both my HV dealer and the online builder confirmed there's no leather seats on the revamp 'Rebel12' package. Only a 12" screen and the Alpine system. Online it's not even called Rebel12 anymore. Just an option to add a 12" Uconnect screen, which then tacks on the Alpine system.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be wrong here, but nowhere does it mention leather seats:

I stand corrected a second time. It does appear that this AZ6 package comes with leather seats - just hope they are black, like in the original package.

The 2020 trucks will come with that new 60/40 tailgate option from what I've read.

I wish they would offer the 392 or 6.4 and a 36 gal fuel tank for the 2020 1500 Ram. That would finally put me in the driver's seat.

Doubt it. It’ll likely be an upgrade option, but would still require the ram boxes too for the wiring and such, unless they redesigned the rear again. RAM isn’t going to let a possible money maker go for free :)

Yeah. I know. The regular Hemi is "so slow".

A little sensitive are we?
Not at all. It just gets a bit ridiculous after all. But I have been driving pickups a long time. Everything today is incredible, no matter who makes it. I see the same thing with motorcycles only we on those forums are a bit more realistic and realize the truth is very few of us are good enough to even begin to use the capabilities of what we ride. On the extreme ends of the bell curve it matters, if you are there, more power to you, literally. Besides my heavy duty half tone with the ecoboost and 3.73 rearend eats almost anybody. Driving out on the Phoenix interstates it becomes clear there are a lot of people driving these fantastic autos that don't have a clue what they are doing.

On the other hand....maybe you need the compensation?:)
