Is A Dark Appearance Package Coming To The Ram 1500 Tungsten?

We Think It's Likely To Happen

In November 2023, Ram introduced the refreshed 2025 Ram 1500 models, including a new range-topping Tungsten trim. Slotting in above the existing Limited trim, the Tungsten features unique styling elements and an array of luxurious features, starting with its Indigo/Sea Salt interior, which includes platinum patina/semi-bright dual-textured metal accents with diamond knurling and a suede-wrapped headliner A- and B-pillars, and visors. The driver and front passenger seats are crafted from premium quilted Natura Plus leather, offering 24-way power adjustments, memory settings, a massage function, power lumbar support, and four-way powered headrests, ensuring the utmost comfort. Further enhancing its upscale appeal are brushed platinum patina aluminum litho bezels, a unique crystal-effect shifter center cap, and an ultra-premium Klipsch Reference Premiere audio system with 23 speakers.

Now, with the production models currently on sale, we have noticed a few differences between the truck originally shown and what is currently available.

The above photo shows the pre-production Tungsten (top) compared to the current production version (bottom). Right away, you will notice the pre-production version features a body-colored grille surround. The badges, grille inserts, lower door molding, and mirror caps are charcoal-colored on the pre-production model and chrome on the production model. The fog light openings, lower grille insert, and side windows are also trimmed in black on the pre-production version compared to chrome on the production truck. Around the back is more of the same, the pre-production truck featured black exhaust tips, while the production truck has chrome.

Ram has long been known for doing special editions and appearance packages across the Ram Truck line. You can get a Sport or Night appearance package on basically every trim of the 2025 Ram 1500 lineup aside from the Rebel, which already comes blacked out, the Longhorn (which has never had a dark appearance package), or the Tungsten. Ram also loves leaving easter eggs around in press photos, commercials, and reveals. When we reached out to Ram to ask if the design team had changed their mind from pre-production or if a dark appearance package was coming for the Tungsten, we were told, “Can’t go into detail on that, sorry!”

Given the brands’ history, it would be safe to say that a dark-appearance package will come to the Tungsten at some point in the near future. It is a handsome truck either way, but I personally prefer the look of the pre-production version just slightly. That said, nothing stops you from creating your own vision with either some vinyl wrap or paint as we did on our old 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn, as shown below.
