Why is it so difficult to order Wi-Fi?!

Good afternoon everybody.

To make a long story short. The cellular bits in my phone died. So I decided to activate my three-month trial, so I have a phone while I'm driving.

Why did Chrysler go from, (in my 2015 Jeep Cherokee) Tapping a button, putting in a four-digit code and having wifi that works without issue for the time that was purchased. DOWN to. Turning on wifi hotspot, connecting the phone to it, having a login screen, log in to AT&T. Then 6 hours later hooking to it again, having to log into an account again, having it confirm that you are who you say you are, not having wifi or cellular to get the email or text code to verify your logging in and not being able to use your service because your phone can't log into your new "my vehicle.AT&T" garbage they added to a simple button push and pin for wifi.

If I activate it and somebody else logs into my in vehicle wifi do they have to have an AT&T account?

Seriously disappointing and frustrating that this Guardian remote stuff is not working on top of the most difficult in-vehicle wifi hotspot issue. It should be able to be done on the radio, you know like I could do three years ago.

This may be a rant, but I think using your wifi hotspot in these rams is downright backward and ridiculous.

Other than that, and the abysmal fuel mileage (I expected) I love the truck.

I hope all is well! :)

Don’t bother. The three month period is just 1 GB of data, which if you are like me, it was consumed in I believe two days.

Hello Sigma1118

I like iPhones. Im not buying a new phone right now because I don't see the advantage of buying a new phone when new ones are going to be announced on the 10th. Waiting widens my options to purchasing the latest and greatest if the new tech is a worthwhile upgrade or purchasing my current phone for an even lower price than I can currently purchase it. :)

** update **

I believe what happened is the trial data ran out ( like @Neurobit mentioned) which caused it to send me to the AT&T login page.

I then decided to navigate to the page they requested https://myvehicle.att.com to figure out what was up.

I decided to purchase a monthly plan that I can cancel at any time.

It now works flawlessly, I set my iPhone to connect to it automatically, and I haven't had an issue since.

WORD OF CAUTION

When I selected the plan from the above link, it showed as $20 a month. When I view my AT&T plans on my account, it shows $40 a month.

I started up a live chat online, which quickly escalated to a "car plan specialist," calling me reassuring me that the charge will be $20 a month.

I will report back when the next bill hits to see if it is genuinely $20 a month.

SECONDARY NOTE

The link I provided above is tied to email address. So if you have AT&T TV package and you use that email it may change the password to AT&T TV.

Wifi signup was beyond horrible! I almost gave up. I tried activating the free trial for a trip to Vt with 3 kids in back waiting for wifi to work for their devices. I finally had to use the assist button in a parking lot and it took over an hour. I was disconnected 2x and the last time I was going to give up. It wasn't worth the free trial after all that cause it didnt last more than a few hours anyways with the kids using it. I hope I get a survey about my experiences with the free trial so I can tell them their claimed to me by the rep 5 minute signup was way off.
