Just thought I’d share a cumulative experience having owned a lot of different vehicles and why I chose the RAM 1500.
Tonight I received my real plates and as I was screwing them on I noticed the front plate holder had two sleeves that hold the bottom corners of the plate snug and tight. As anyone who has lived near the ocean or in a salt haven winter wonderland, everything inevitably rusts but plate screw are notorious for being impossible to remove from brackets
This is a simple practical cheap approach. Another is the child seat hook placements. Out of the way for adults so you don’t feel them and they look aesthetically luxurious and form fitted but the practical nature couldn’t be easier
I had the recall done and the frame coated today. All went well. I love the low hum of the V8 and I was pleasantly surprised by the mpg given the Faulken A/T tires which I’ve come to really really like
I think the deep bed is smart and good looking. I find everything including the phone holder to just make sense. It doesn’t seem cheap to me and when I look at the engine bay it’s impressive
You have to have owned a vehicle that had some questionable designs to appreciate simplicity like this. For example my Nissan had a single exhaust pipe that ran the length of the car and it cost thousands to replace. That it had to be replaced was a shocker and it’s price was equally hard to swallow. You ask yourself, wtf were they thinking? Or my Toyota which has the worst E-Brake system I’ve ever seen. It never held the vehicle with confidence, was very expensive to replace, didn’t last long, and overall was useless or how among other things the heat shield in Rovers is so thin your entire stereo and dash could barely be touched in EVERY model because of how hot it would get even in winter
I’ve owned BMW, Volvo, Saab, lots of Land Rovers, Nissan, Honda, and Toyota.
Owning a vehicle that evokes a positive emotion provides more enjoyment throughout ownership I find
The worst cars I’ve owned in maintenance were the Toyota, Saab, BMW, and by miles the Rovers
I looked up what manufacturer had the highest recalls and the the top least reliable ratings for the past few years and there were some surprises. RAM wasn’t among them
This is my first American car. And I am beginning to understand why some truck owners are like football or baseball fans and full of pride and prejudice
I hope this is a positive experience for you and me both long term. I could use a good quality car ownership experience right about now
With 2k miles on the odometer, I really am looking forward to a long affair with RAM and if it goes well, I’ll definitely be looking at adding another FCA vehicle next year
Best wishes & kind regards to you all
