Hi everyone! I bought 2022 RAM 1500 Limited. It has 285/45 R22 wheels (with air suspension). I want to upgrade the tires (but not the wheels) because ride is a little stiff. Which combination should i go with? Option 1) 285/50 R22 OR 2) 305/45 R22. Both options should fit without any wheel well modifications and both options provide a little more sidewall (option 1 is 5.4" and option 2 is 5.6" VS stuck 5.0". I am just not sure which one to pick. Any suggestions and explanation is appreciated.

I put 305/45R22 Toyo Open Country AT III‘s on my ’22 Limited and have not experienced rubbing or any other issues.

Thanks for the response. Did you notice any loss of MPG? I get about 500 to 550 on full tank (33 gal.) My average is 17.5 MPG mostly (about 70%) highway driving. What's yours?

Also with the new wider tires (305/45 R22) is the ride a little better/softer?

I find the ride is better with the wider tires. To be real honest, I don’t pay attention to gas mileage 🤷‍♂️.

I had 305/45R22 Nitto NT420v before I swapped out for new wheels and tires.

They're for sale.....

Hi Ram-a-Kin, So i bought the 305/45/22 tires (Michelin Defenders 2) got them installed on the OEM 22" rims. Tires ride nice (similar to stock) maybe a bit softer. BUT no one here mentioned that acceleration is slower and breaking requires more pedal press, breaking feel is not as good as it was with the OEM setup. Interestingly handling at highway speeds is better (I drive fast). So, did you also notice slightly slower acceleration and worse breaking? I am not sure if I want to keep them. I still can return these tires back to TireRack (I am within 60 days of trail period). Please share your thoughts...

Heavier tires will do that. Rotational mass effects performance more than static weight. Also, if you haven't updated the computer for bigger tires your shifting will be off.

Its also been almost a year since the member, you are asking the question to, has been on the forums.

Updating computer for bigger tires so the gear shifting is correct - never heard of that. Where would i do that, dealer? I've heard about updating speedometer so the speed i am driving is correct. I know i am driving a bit faster than actual speed (I plan on adjusting that)... Did you adjust your gearing? How much does it cost and did you feel the difference after? What exactly does this update do?

Adjusting for the speedo will correct the shifting. There are lots of different options. alfaObd, TazerDT, Pulsar, dealer visit, rough country makes a plug in device. Pick your poison and how much you want to spend
