I put my front license plate bracket on the other day, and in addition to the four screws that hold the bracket and license plate on, there was a little pack of two smaller screws. I couldn't see any possible way they could be used with the license plate bracket, and haven't seen them mentioned anywhere. So, anyone know what they are for?

Rear plate?
Don't think so. Rear plate took the same bigger screws as the front, and this was shrink wrapped inside the front bracket package, so think they are associated with that but I don't get how.

It's possible the frame is used in more than just our Rams, and the smaller screws are for a different application. Were they in the same bag as larger screws, or packaged separately?

Separate bag from the large screws, and don't think they are big enough to fit any of the bracket holes.

Those look like the small screws used for sill plates, trim panels, or similar items. Perhaps they were dropped into the bag by mistake? The only bag I had in my truck was the tailgate wiring cover plate and plugs (used if you remove the tailgate I believe).

There should be 4 screws for the bracket to attach to the bumper and 2 screws for the plate to attach to the bracket . So you got 8 screws in total ?

No, there are four larger screws that mount the plate and bracket to the bumper. Top two are through plate and bracket, bottom two are in recesses behind the plate where you don't see them. And then there are these two which don't appear to fit anything in the area.

This was discussed a couple of years back, with the same answer about the rear plate.

But like you, the screws in my rear plate are the same size. I guess it's possible the dealership just jammed larger screws in when mounting their branded license plate frame prior to delivery.

Thanks for the link, I hadn't considered the rear plate. They are about two sizes too small for a standard license plate hole, so I'd have to conclude they were a design error and dealer took up the slack. Not the first or only Ram screw-up, I'm sure. I guess that satisfies my curiosity, and I'll chuck these in the random screw bin. (y)
