What is this for?

I recently bought a 2020 Ram 1500 and I am wondering what this plastic gusset is for that is bolted on the front corners of the bed rails? Maybe an extra tie down or support for a tonneau cover? A tie down seems unnecessary since I could move one of the adjustable tie downs close to the same location. Anyway, I couldn’t find any information on this so I thought I would stop wasting time and just ask you folks. TIA..
