Hello,

I just bought a 2019 Ram 1500 Hemi Sport.

I am noticing the truck doesn’t seem to downshift as quickly as I would expect. For example I’ll be in 7th gear at 40mph. I don’t necessarily have a problem with this, I just assume it has to do with eco mode.

The problem is at around 1100 rpm’s when I get back on the gas it makes a weird sound for a few seconds until the rpm’s are back up. It partially sounds like exhaust build up but it also sounds transmission noise.

I’m not sure if this is harmful to the truck, if it just needs a tune for the when it should shift, exhaust leak ect…

(For reference I had another 2019 ram hemi for the last 3 years before that didn’t do this)

Any help is appreciated!

What does it sound like/shift with the ECO disabled? Record it and post a link to you tube.

I don't think I can turn eco off.

Here are a couple of short videos. Its kind of hard to catch on camera. I'm almost thinking it's an exhaust issue at this point.

As of my first drive with it off, I think that fixed it.

I bought the truck used and not sure if it had an after market exhaust installed. So maybe at low rpm in 4cl it’s just a bad sounding exhaust?

Driving a few times I think that fixed it. Any idea if there’s a good tuner I can get or if I can get the truck tuned at a shop to stay out of the eco mode?

No need to pay for anything - just hit the gear limiter up to 8th each time you get in. But I'd just get over it and enjoy the fuel savings of ECO mode. Why pay more for less?

It would sound pretty disgusting IMO.

Not sure but Tazer DT might be able to do it. Do a search.
You can also hit the tow-haul switch if your truck came with that option.

Down here in the lower 48`s 1mpg does not really make s giggly difference...
You mean when you drive 1/4 mile down the road to frack your cousin? I guess not...
:)
And yeah, it's a lot more than 1, more like 8-10 mpg drop as the engine really revs high in the shift patterns...sounds like you've never actually used it.

LOL, used it enough, you got liters and gallons mixed up by any chance? you are telling me that my mpg drops from 13.5 to 5.5 mpg when in tow-haul and not actually towing, I call that bulzshite.

Nope, MPG is what I use and mine plummets like a stone in tow/haul mode from 17 in the city to about 8-10 as the ECO won't kick in and it's revving higher pulling away from stops. If you're getting only 13.5 maybe you wouldn't notice the drop.

Rebel with Duratracks and 3.92 gears.
