Waze Freeze/Lock - Android

OK, Waze works on 8.4 head unit UNTIL the phone (Samsung S8 Active) screen times out (screen goes dark). If I wake it up the head unit screen wakes up too.

This is probably a setting in the Waze app but I have not found it yet.

Google maps work fine when the phone screen times out/sleeps.

I did search for other post about this and could not find any.
