I drive a 2020 5.7 1500 with an E-Torque. The bearing on the e-torque went bad at 77k. Part was on back order until June. I ordered the bearing and rebuilt it myself. Now when I start my truck it reads 14.2-14.7 volts. As soon as I give it heavy acceleration like merging on to a highway. The voltage drops to 12.5 and continues to drop as if the alternator isn’t working, but when I shut the truck off and restart voltage goes back up to 14.6. Happens every time within the first mile of driving. Any thoughts?

I believe the e torque MGU s must be made in China by 8 yr old kids..they are junk as far as Im concerned..Ram replaced mine last summer..its already faltering with wild charging rates. 12.6 to 14.5 while just driving along

On the E torque systems the mgu operates at 48 vdc. The 12 volt battery is charged from a 48 vdc to 12vdc battery charger (no alternator ) What would cause the voltage fluctuations could be; limited output of the charger, a bad connection, or a battery that is not completely charged or failing.

New battery, new MGU generator all installed and tested by certified Ram technician..Its doing exactly the same thing the original MGI did. Took about 6 weeks to completely stop charging...its the MGU. again

I have 65,000 km + on my 2022 rebel gt. Had my 12 v battery start acting funny last year and they replaced it. No issues since. I think is a crapshoot for the mgu’s. Some never have issues and others are early in the milage game.

Another person I know traded in their 2019 Ram with etourqe at 178,000 without any issues and upgraded to a 2024 etourqe two years ago, he’s got 73,000 km on it now without a glitch.
