Just wanted to share my install procedure in case someone else wanted to do this. I think it turned out looking professionally done! #humblebrag

1) Remove the tails (take of tailgate supports and then two hex bolts and two push tabs), third brake lights comes out with 4 screws.

2) Lay down a huge plastic drop in a ventilated area so you don’t get lightheaded. Sand the lights evenly and gently with 600 grit and clean with alcohol. Start taping off the lights. I wanted to leave the reverse light sections of all three lights 2 coats lighter.

3) Start spraying the VHT Night shade. Stay about 6 - 8 in away from the lights and do light coats. I did two coats before removing the tape. 5 minutes to dry in between coats. Then two more coats. Let it dry for 30 minutes.

4) I used the VHT enamel gloss. Four coats, light spray waiting 5 minutes in between coats. Wait three hours after the last coat for everything to set.

5) Pop the lights back in, and test them out. I think the balance is great and they’re still very visible during direct sunlight. Lasfit leds are ordered anyway

Let me know if you have any questions!

Update (guess I’m talking to myself on this thread ):

Want to go even darker, so I’m going to do a light grit sand and do a couple more coats. Same as before, covering the reverse portion to keep them lighter. Will post an update!

Looks great! Interested to see how they look with a couple more coats on them. I’m looking at the tints/films now, because not sure I trust myself to spray this on evenly, but just a little darker than what you have is exactly what I’m looking for (granite also)

three more nightshade coats, 5 minutes in between. then 4 more clear coats, 5 minutes in between. letting it cure for 4 hours now and will reinstall

Done! Happy with how they turned out. No more red, which my OCD appreciates.

Can still see the running lights!
