Vararam vs Ram Airflow (sound)

Does anyone know if there is a noticeable sound difference between the Vararam vs Ram Airflow?
From what I can tell they are almost the exact same thing except for the looks.

I would imagine the Vararam would allow more engine noise since it doesn't have the cover on top.

I was kind of surprised that it was that much louder (with the hood open)
