Is it just me or have used prices on our trucks seemed to plummet ? More so than ford and GM trucks

If I look up used values on an f150 similar to my 23 Laramie the values are basically the same. My Ram shows 43k and the f150 shows 41k.

If you watch earnings reports, we are still in the midst of the supply crisis from covid. Hot 2019 was driving massive builds, super low inventories during covid. Then unrealistic demand modeled by the low inventories drove over demand and capacity in 2023, 2024, and into 2025. This is not unique to the auto industry. Most promised resumption of historic demand in 2nd half of 24 which didn't materialize, now they are promising 2nd half of 25. We shall see.

I personally never look at this because I'm keeping my 2020 Ram till the tires fall off which I hope is several years down the road. Rams values have always lagged Ford but it is what it is. Keep that vehicle and the value is in the eyes of the owner :)

How much are we talking about? Mine is worth half after 5 years and 44K miles. Not sure if that's good or bad but I'm okay with it

Bought my 2020 Limited March 23rd, 2020 $51K...just traded for $34500...that is $289 a month...if you negotiate a bad deal (front end, back end or both) of course you will see more depreciation or cash loss.

Based on used prices, at least in my area, I don't see a big difference between the makes or a big drop either.

Double check the listings, make sure they aren't fake, also make sure they are clean titles, expected mileage for age, condition etc. to get a represenative sample of asking prices.

I bought my 2022 when prices were at the peak with discounts extremely hard to find. After less than 3 years and 50,000 miles my truck is currently worth less than half of what I paid for it. Paid $66,000 and worth about $30,000 now. It was my choice to buy when I did so I can’t complain too much but it’s disheartening to see that drastic of a drop in value. Don’t plan on getting rid of mine anytime soon so it’s not really gonna affect me at all.

I got mine right before covid in December 2019 and discounts were pretty amazing, sales manager claimed they were doing employee pricing

The sticker price on my truck was 55k, I got it for 39k, essentially 25% discount because at the time FCA was trying to beat Chevy for second in truck sales, this was July 2019.

Big discounts was always part of the deal when you buy a full size American truck, probably for decades. Usually 15% right off the bat, Covid market changed that temporarily.

Ah, the good old days. October 2018, 50k msrp, 40K dealership, 5K from Ram, Invoice at dealerships plus other discounts.

I think Carvana will give you the best price. 2020 Ram Bighorn/Longhorn right before Thanksgiving. They offered me $33,400 with 12,272 miles on it. Was going to get a Subaru Outback. Never sold it cause I had trouble getting in and out of the Subaru. Then after Christmas they offered me $35,000 through a email. If I knew then what I know now about the Uconnect and radio problem I am having. I should have sold it and bought the Subaru. Put in the extra $3k which is what it is going to cost to fix the radio. And have a 2025 Subaru with a warranty and hopefully no BS problems.

I generally trade ever 4-5 years (80-120K miles) and typically get a little more than half of my purchase price back at trade-in. However, I normally buy when discounts are near their max and my purchase price is often $10 - $15k below MSRP.

carvana is sending me emails for like 32k but I had the manifolds done on my truck a few months back and the dealer was offering me 40k like trucks seem to range 40-45k on auto trader
