Just in case anyone finds themselves with a dead fob battery and gets the fob not detected, the manual says the procedure to start the truck is to use the fob case to push the start button. There is a backup battery-less transponder in the fob that works in super close proximity to the start button.
However, and this is the part not mentioned, you literally have to hold the button for what seems like 2 seconds for it to recognize. If you're like me, you used to just pressing the button quick and it responding. However, in emergency mode, you will get a "fob not detected message" and keep holding, and 2 seconds later it will start. I thought ohh great, its not working, because i was being too impatient!
