Used Oil Analyses, 4k and 9k miles

The latest oil that was drained was Castrol Edge EP 5W-20, using a Fram Ultra filter.

I think it's funny that the factory oil had 2ppm of barium in it! The moly I understand, to protect parts on break-in, but barium's purpose is a mystery to me!

Interesting stuff, thanks for posting! It looks like you've sent them 2 samples so far? How much does it cost to do this?
 
You've only driven 4,700 miles in a year? I'm almost to 2,500 in 2 months.
 
COVID has a way of eliminating the commute when working from home which coupled with lockdowns and/or self-quarantine. I cut the annual mikes driven on my insurance policy to save money as I now drive 1/4 as many miles as I used to pre-COVID.
 
I hear you. I only have to commute to the office every other day now. I have a 35 mile commute each way when I go into the office.
 
I thought barium would be used to help coat/stick on minimal tolerance parts.

this is an assumption from watching my own barium swallow...
