So this is a long one but I am lost. 1 week ago I was driving doing 50 and all of a sudden every warning light came on in my truck. Truck dropped to first gear and was able to coast into a gas station. Loss all power. Turned truck off for about 5 mins. Trucked started right up and was able to drive normal for about 25 miles. Went to auto store to pull codes and while sitting in parking lot it went nuts again. Every warning possible. I turned truck off and it would not start after that. It was completely dead. No lights or anything. Towed to the house. Next morning tow truck operator jumped it and it started right away (still had it towed). Had 3 pages of codes. Dealer said battery was bad, replaced battery and all was good for about three days. Yesterday I go to start the truck and the dash display is saying PRESS BRAKE AND PUSH BUTTON to start. What it says every time you get in it. Go to push button to start it and nothing. No clicking, no trying to start. Just the OFF light on the push button blinking. It does absolutely nothing. No warning lights it is just stuck on that screen. New battery is reading 13.8 volts from my meter. Had it towed again. Sat all night at dealer and went completely dead due to display being on for over 24 hours. Dealer put a battery in and started right up. They are doing a DRAW test on it now. I just find it odd that every time it sits dead for a long time it will jump start normal.

Yes I did disconnect the battery for 30 mins each time this happened and it did nothing.
It is a 22 Laramie 5.7 not the etorque. Does not have the start stop option either.

Anyone gone through anything like this. Truck is stock.

UPDATE 1-7-2025. Found Can C board blown a circuit. See Photo. also the RFH antennas are bad. Have to replace this module as well. I am hoping this is all.
Update 1-8-2025: Replaced battery again, replaced the Can C board and RFH module. The mechanic said it was a moisture issue. It was pouring down rain when all this happened so maybe, but it was not wet in my truck. Nothing is covered under the factory warranty at 45,000 miles. I will keep updates going but truck ran well this morning.

Based on other members' posts/problems:
  • your ignition switch is failing/bad
  • your RF hub is failing
  • key fob batteries weak/failing
  • some sort of electrical short/draw - you are already working on that solution
  • Alternator is failing
  • belts/pulleys need replacement/slipping
Good luck and I hope you do not get the dreaded "can not duplicate reported issue/problem" that is so frustrating pay for no solution and continue to have the problem(s).

Thank you. About to just trade this thing in. 25000 miles had all lifters replaced

so it's a e-torque no doubt sorry you are having problems.
RANT ALERT!
my friend at work said his only regret is getting the e-t 50k on it and the MGU needs to be replaced, there is 2000 of them on backorder. what does that tell you?
i know some people like it and have not had issues but that don't mean they won't. MGU the part alone is 1500. alternator i got 1 with 5000 miles on it off e-bay for 100 bux. i was about to trade my non e-torque in on a Laramie, i love the truck but the e-torque is a deal breaker. mark my words unless something changes it won't be long before e-t trucks get mechanically totaled. people buying used trucks won't be able to take 4k parts and labor to replace the MGU then theres the 48 volt battery all that for 1/2 a wheel revolution on take off. it's retarded in the truest sense of the word. if you lease or get a new truck every few years it won't matter but in 10 years i'll still be driving my truck on the cheap with plenty of parts from all those e-t trucks getting parted out. i wish this was not the case. why did stalaintus only put e-t on trucks and jeeps?? those are the last customers that would care or need it. put that trash on the cars and minivans! you may get a mile or two to the gallon more but that savings if any will get wiped out on replacement parts labor and programing. the only truck still getting it is the 3.6 v6 base model. on the bright a 2025 v6 tradesman crew cab is only 37k.

:oops::rolleyes:.... that's a rare truck awesome spec i'm a little jealous:love:.it will get worked out but if you trade it LMK where i may have to scoop it up. i only found one 2wd Laramie crew regular 5.7 on a nationwide carfox/autotrader/carvana/carmax search and it was in texas.
but my rant on E-T still stands. i just passed on this. good miles great price nice truck......but wrong powertrain.

It tells me that Stellantis isn't paying their bills on time and the contracts from suppliers are being canceled/modified. A cut rate global corporation is screwing the suppliers, pushing some suppliers to the verge of bankruptcy.

It was a custom order that was missing one thing ordered and the person denied delivery. Salesman bought it and drove it 9000 miles. Got it for a steal. Has all the limited features minus the ram box.

can c star connector
Diagnosing a CAN-C Star Connector Failure!

Certainly a possibility.
The more I see this error and people describing it on Ram, Jeep and charger forums I am pretty sure this is the issue. Let see if I can get the dealership to actually look and replace this. Thanks so much for replying with this video. May have saved me thousands

I had the same thing occur in traffic. I too filed with NHTSB. Was also getting PARKSENSE ERROR and SERVICE SHIFTER messages....which was occurring nearly DAILY! When I brought truck to dealer they found "can c star connector" was the issue and replaced it... $536.11. I called RAMCare and pleaded my case and got them to cover it, so I didn't have to pay anything out of pocket.
That was June 2024 and I have not had any issues since.

Additionally, I found this video <<
>> explaining the star connector. NOTE: I did not have the 33 mile issue that he comments on in the video.
A 25-cent capacitor takes down a $60K truck and no one seems to be able fix it. Disturbing. But the guy in the video is impressive and goes to show what perseverance can do. Dealer service departments vary wildly in competence.

Keep us updated! These kinds of threads help people solve issues for years. A lot of times, these kinds of threads just die with no resolution, which is very frustrating when other people experience the same issues and can’t find a fix.

To be fare, they do not have PACE smd rework stations, hot plates/re-flow ovens or microscopes at their disposal like the rest of us do.

So here is the update. Parasitic Draw test was negative. No issues. I did send them the videos of the Star Connection and RFD hub. The star connection tested bad and they are ordering the part. Part should be in tomorrow. I will definitely keep everyone posted. This is getting expensive at this point.
