Ultimate Tailgate Seal with Taper Seal

Bought this kit to close some of the gap on sides of my 2025 Ram {no Ram Box or MFT} and have to admit the directions kind of suck. I know it won't be water tight. Looking for pics {closeups would be nice} and any tips. For example. What did you use the short wide piece for? Directions state to go 1" below bed floor but looks like the swing of the bottom of the tailgate hits the seal. Is that correct? And there is also a hex nut sticking out along the seal path. Go over the top? Notch it out? And last but not least, I'm assuming the seal bulb should stick out just beyond the rubber stops. Thanks for any tips and advice. And have a great day

Not sure what brand you got but i used extang's maxseal. Makes a pretty good seal. I didn't go along the bottom because the tailgate hit it.
