Wanted to share my experience in case it helps someone down the road.

I have a 2019 Ram 1500 5th Gen with the 8.4” Uconnect screen. My original screen started delaminating, so I ordered an aftermarket replacement (Cuescreens) and installed it myself. The swap seemed straightforward: three ribbon cables plugged back into the Uconnect module behind the screen. The first time I put it back in, it worked fine but I was getting lots of discoloring on the screen. I called their customer support and they said I had likely tightened the screws too tightly so just do them finger tight. So I took it back apart, adjusted the screws, and it improved it a lot.

However, when I powered the truck back on though, everything went haywire:
  • No HVAC controls
  • No accessories
  • No turn signals
  • Windshield wipers stuck ON (stalk did nothing)
  • Tons of warning lights about modules not communicating
At first I thought I had messed up a connector or that the aftermarket screen was bad. I took it back off, screwed with the ribbon cables, etc... I had a local mechanic scan it and it revealed a bunch of low voltage systems with no communication errors. (It was like 24 error codes, didn't write them all down.) I went back and had pretty much given up trying to fix it and resigned myself to needing to take it to the dealer. I put the original screen back in, thinking it was an issue with the screen and put it all back together. I then sulked off back to dinner.

When I was eating dinner, I fed my entire scenario into ChatGPT. Curiously enough, in its deep research response it cited this form extensively in finding issues with blown fuses. While it didn't get the number right, it did lead me to look at 15amp fuses under the drivers dash in the fuse panel, and sure enough when I replaced fuse F53 it resolved my issue. In retrospect, should have looked at this sooner. I found other references on here saying it was potentially other 15am fuses, so I started just pulling them all and looking at them and this was like the third one that hit for me. Here is a pic given the fuse diagrams are sort of all over the place online. It's the one in red circle. I honestly didn't look that close but there is a popular diagram floating around that says that is slot F53 and in the manual it says Mod ICS Switch / Mod HVAC CTRL / Sw Bank Upper / Sw EPB / Mod Control Steering which is all the stuff that broke for me.

What I believe happened to pop it is that on the back of the screen, the communication cables for the screen and the HVAC controls are the same connector and I must have reversed them when I was putting the screen on the second time. I took a screenshot from a disassembly video since I didn't take any pictures, but it's these two that I am talking about. The top one is connecting to the back of the screen assembly, the bottom to the HVAC controls. On my truck, the connectors were both black, not grey like pictured in the top one, and I believe mine had a blue tape wrapped around it. Now that I have everything working, when I got to try and replace the screen again, I will make sure I have the right wire in the right connector in the right spot.

I haven't been able to confirm checking the cables ensures it doesn't pop yet because I absolutely need this truck working for the next few days and don't have time to mess with it again for another week. I am hoping for a smooth screen install and I can be done with this b/s the remainder of owning this truck. The cuescreen did look nice when I got it correctly in, but blowing the fuse then bumbling around really annoyed me about all this but I am still likely 2 grand richer than going to dealership.

Once I get the new screen in will post update. I hope this is helpful to someone else, I am writing this more for myself to think through what I did and I appreciate this form helped me get this figured out so I hope someone else who's crap screen is delaminating can read this and if they have issue it helps them get it fixed.
