I havent changed the transmission oil yet because well some people said to wait till 100,000 miles others did it at 60,000 and my Dealer says just a flush they dont change the filter (unless there is some reason). i did learn that the filter is incorporated into the pan so you have to buy a pan also, my Dealer cost for the pan/filter is $318.55 + $248.40 for the ATF.
Then I learned you have to drop the exhaust pipe to get the clearance needed to remove the pan? what the... I dont know what the mfg says I havent looked it up yet.

Serviced my transmission last spring. No flush, just drain and refill with new pan/filter. Did this around 80k miles, should have done it sooner...
Paid 287.30 for the pan, 91.11 for 6 quarts of Mopar 8&9 speed fluid and 8.48 for Tekton long T40 torx bit, all from amazon.
Yes, you need to drop the Y-pipe, penetrating oil and a wire brush are your friends with the corroded nuts and bolts.

I changed mine at around 50K (just because) and swapped to a PPE pan. I didn't feel like messing with the exhaust and found it much easier to lift the transmission by removing the three mounting bolts and jacking up the rear of the transmission. I have jack extensions so those worked well. I may have been able to get a stock pan on without jacking up the transmission but there was no way around it with the PPE.

Did mine at 30. Jacked up the trans did not need to move the exhaust. Used a modified Allen and a box end wrench to tighten the drain plug between dump and fills. Torqued the new fill plug to spec on the bench before installing the pan.

I second the PPE Pan, did mine about 13,000 miles ago. The job is definitely a little bit of a pain with the exhaust in the way but I did not want to mess with the Y pipe.

I went the Y-pipe route because had already dealt with the passenger side manifold and associated rusted hardware, figured the driver side would be easier if and when it decides to let go.
