Trailer Brake Controller

I'm looking to upgrade my prodigy P2 brake controller in my 2021 Ram 1500, I currently have it mounted by my shin and it can be difficult to get to for a manual override in the event of trailer sway. (Hemi w/ETorque 3.92 rear). I was looking at the OEM units but I noticed they have gone up in price, between $325 to $400 depending on the site plus programming or buying the bypass cable and software. Even Infotainment that sells a complete package with the programmer is around $450 with tax. But when on a lot of these "Mopar Parts Store" I noticed they sell a aftermarket trailer brake controller (Made by RedArc) but with a Mopar part number, this was on multiple Mopar Genuine Part stores. Is this a collaboration, does RedArc help make the OEM brake controllers? Has anyone tried this trailer brake controller out yet?

Hello Forum,

So, I called around to several Houston area dealerships and kept getting quoted ~$700 for the purchase and install of a factory trailer brake controller. This seemed outrageous to me, and so I set out to find information about what all was involved in this installation. In the process of doing this I found a lot of information, and I just wanted to share my experience from start to finish including flashing the software myself in order to add the trailer brake controller to UConnect so that I don't have to go to the dealership for anything.
