Hi,
Does anyone have recommendations on a tonneau cover for 2023 Ram Laramie? I do not necessarily need top of the line. It is important that it’s 100% water proof though. I want to be able to put my luggage in bed of truck and it not get wet on trips. Any brand/ type I need to stay away from? I appreciate any feedback because I’m new this type purchase.

You'll want to post which bed size you have and whether you have the MFT or not to get better recommendations from people.

I had the same concerns when looking for a cover - waterproof and secure - but also needed it to work with a 6'-4" bed and MFT. I picked the Diamondback for these reasons, but it's more expensive than most want to spend. There is someone with one for sale in the marketplace. I think they're in Scottsdale, AZ.

Real Truck has just about any option/price that you could hope for. It really comes down to picking what matters most to you. Like you, I didn't care if it was 100% waterproof. I wanted a hard top and I needed it to clear cross bars that I use for kayaks and (sometimes) my mountain bike. So, a flip and roll tops were out of the question. I had a roll-n-lock in the past and I went with one again, that has the t-slots to accommodate my Yakima mounts & bars.

You can find cheaper, knock off versions on Amazon. I really like the customer service of Real Truck, though.

This is not going to happen. You can get ones that are pretty much waterproof however you will never get one that is 100% waterproof.

I have the BackFlip MX4 and a seal kit on my tailgate. Pretty much waterproof but if you get heavy rain with driving or go through a car wash still gets a little water inside.

I considered the BakFlip that others have mentioned, but decided to spend more to get something more solid. I have the DiamondBack SE and am very happy with it. It doesn’t rain much here in San Diego, but when it does I can confirm it’s waterproof. Also very secure. I checked out the BakFlip in a local store and even the owner said it’s very easy to break into if you’re familiar with it.

Diamondback just released a lower cost model with a design similar to the BakFlip.

For all of my previous trucks I used a roll up style soft cover. I never (in more than 20 years) had the tonneau cover broken into. When I got the Rebel I decided i wanted to upgrade to something more substantial. I considered the DiamondBack SE however I decided on the BakFlip MX4 because it was on sale and less money, around half the cost.

As far as dealing with RealTruck. Over the last 20 years I have bought 3 tonneau covers, one bed toolbox, a set of racks for a bed and more smaller stuff. Never had a problem with them and no complaints.

I've had Access roll-ups on my past two Rams and several of my Fords before that. 100% waterproof - not really possible. If it rains it pretty much stays dry. If I go through the carwash, there might be some water that seeps in but it isn't puddles.

I like the flexibility of flexible covers. I can keep things protected or roll it up to haul a snowmobile/ATV/dresser/mattress/etc. No one has ever attempted to break into my truck bed. A thief can smash a window just as fast or faster than they can cut through a tonneau cover.
