Thinking about swapping my 2022 5.7 ETorque For A 2025 3.0SO

As the title suggests, I'm considering replacing my 2022 with a 2025 Rebel. I'm particularly dissatisfied with the Etorque's performance, and my frustration is compounded by the Uconnect system randomly displaying the ' Service Uconnect' box message. This issue persists despite RAM having replaced all the parts twice. I love the sound of the 5.7, especially after having installed the GT exhaust. I also added proximity entry, rain-sensing wipers, and a few other programming mods. I do wish I had adaptive cruise control, vented seats, and heated rear seats. Of course, a slightly better MPG would be beneficial too, but I'm not sure if the 3.0 is that much better, if at all.

I was working on a deal for a Tundra, but that fell through. When I really thought about it, the Ram interior was much nicer, and the 3.0 I test-drove was pretty nice, except for some funky slow-speed shifts that did worry me, considering how much I dislike my Etorque.

I'm not necessarily looking for advice; I'm just mulling over the two options. The 3.0 is new, and the bugs seem not to have been worked out. I have found a Rebel somewhat locally that has everything I would want in it, so there is that staring me in the face. Additionally, the dealer offers a relatively straightforward lifetime powertrain warranty. No unusual requirements that I see, such as needing to be serviced by them; just a licensed shop. I am the person responsible for performing the required maintenance as outlined in the manual, which is all that is necessary. If there is a warranty claim, and I am more than 50 miles away I can take it to any dealer for that claim. I'm not sure how the payment process works, so I will have to find that out. I was hoping the 2026 5.7 wouldn't include the eTorque, but alas, it does. What's a boy to do?

I traded my 2022 Longhorn 5.7 for a 2025 Laramie with the standard SST 3 liter. Of course the Laramie is a nicer interior overall plus I have options not included in the Longhorn such as heated and A/C seats, a huge center display monitor and adaptive cruise control. I don't use the adaptive feature much, but it sure comes in handy when going through long construction zones and such-you can vary the distance between yourself and the vehicle ahead and it keeps that distance accurately. Like you I was not impressed with the E-torque system and don't miss it one bit. What I do miss is the sound of the Hemi-never got old. It's odd to me that the SST puts out more HP and torque yet is quiet as a church mouse. You cannot hear the turbos spool up at all when your windows are rolled up, but you likely won't be depressed about the acceleration. I've had a couple of issues with the truck. The first was on the day I bought it. Half way home the check engine light came on so I returned to the dealership and they re-flashed the software. Have not had that issue since. The second problem was about half way to the next oil change. All of a sudden the engine oil overfill warning came on. The dealership changed the oil as a preventative measure but filled it a quart low. No issues with higher oil temps or pressure-in fact the pressure seems to have gone up a bit on average ever so slightly in day to day driving. The next oil change I took the full 7.5 quarts and that problem with the warning light has not returned. I still think that removing the oil dip stick was a mistake. As to fuel mileage, my 2022 had a 3.21 rear gear and this truck has a 3.55. Yet I have picked up about a mile per gallon. I am no longer a hot-rodder and that might be a good thing-I suspect that if I drove like I did in my 20s that my mileage would not be very good. All in all I am very happy with my trade. If you take the step I hope you are too.
